Why Why Why...,
This review is from: Halloween (Audio CD)
I've been around for every Kidz (insert genre here) release since Kidz Bop 1. Why it continues, I don't know.
First of all, I should mention that I stood in Barnes & Noble for six whole hours at the Harry Potter book release. At said release, they had this CD playing on loop. LOOP, I SAY! For six hours I had to listen to these songs. Because of this, I can almost say for sure that if your kid LIKES this CD, you will be driven insane. My second point: It's fine for kids to learn the themes for Scooby Doo and the Addams Family. And though I loathe "Witch Doctor", that one's fine, too. But Michael Jackson ("Thriller") and, more importantly, the ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW ("Time Warp" sans "pelvic thrust"). Yes, folks. A song from a musical about transvestites. I love RHPS, but it's not something to expose KIDS to. Oh, I'm sorry. Kidz. If you want FURTHER proof that this whole Kidz _____ thing is pure evil, they've made Kidz Rap. Yup. They edited RAP songs and had them sung/rapped by "kidz". Sure, great idea. Let's desensitize our "kidz" to rap music, too. Don't buy this CD. Don't buy any CD that starts with the word "Kidz". Because spelling words with a "z" to pluralize them didn't go out of style in 1990. Nope. Not at all.

A Kid's Review

I'd have to say, the version of Thriller on the CD is the crappiest version i've ever heard. The real versions of a lot of the songs are MUCH better.

Frightningly Disturbing,
This review is from: Kidz Bop Halloween (MP3 Download)
Four years ago I attended a community Halloween ceremony for small children. Sitting there my eyes grew wide hearing "Barbie Girl," a song I feel is not intended for children. On top of this, I could hear the children singing along, word for word! It feels like there is no more cutesy original songs. There are some things children shouldn't be exposed too. When has "Friday The 13th" ever been a kids movie?
Though this is one of their better discs in safe content for young kids it still bugs me. It's shocking the rise of songs unsuitable for their age range.

It's okay,

I purchased this cd for my 7 year old daughter and 9 year old son. They definitely did not seem interested in the music at all. I'm assuming that's because most of the songs were popular while I was growing up. Definitely wasn't a hit in my househould.

If You Are A Parent, Read This!,
This review is from: Halloween (Audio CD)
Parents need to know something about this CD. It's a great CD---I think that it's Kidz Bop's best so far---but there's a little part in one of the songs that may be frightening to younger kids.
Most of the songs, like "Scooby-Doo", "The Monster Mash", "This Is Halloween", and "The Addams Family" are fun and kid-friendly. But...well, there was a problem with "Thriller". Now, I'm not saying that the song wasn't good. I've heard the original only a handful of times, but I loved both this version and the original. But it's scary. There's a talking part at the end. And two lines of that part go, "Must stand and face the hounds of hell And rot inside a corpse's shell" Someone on this site addressed that issue. But they also said that the record company probably edited that part. Well...they didn't. It's not the "hell" part that I'm worried about. Heck, when I was younger my dad would play Smash Mouth for me! But as far as I'm concerned, it's not really all that good an idea to let a second grader listen to a guy with a scary-sounding voice talking about rotting inside a corpse's shell. When I was in second grade, I couldn't even watch "The Little Mermaid" because I was scared of the Sea Witch. I can't speak for every seven-year-old in the world, but I can say that I know plenty of seven-year-olds who would be scared of this. I also find it ironic that they edited "pelvic thrust" in "Time Warp", when they were talking about a dance, but they did not edit "hounds of hell". So if you are a parent, and you want to get this for your kid, just beware "Thriller". This is Kidz Bop's most well done CD, so don't freak about something that you can easily skip over. I just wanted to make sure that parents knew about this.

Noooooooo,
This review is from: Halloween (Audio CD)
Thriller is the ONE song I like by Micheal Jackson(not counting the Jackson 5) I saw/heard it in 13 going on 30 and thought it had a good beat to it. and when that dude starts talking near the end, some of it goes like this:
Must stand and face the hounds of hell, and rot inside a corpse's shell Now would you really want some 6 year old listening to that? I bet they don't even have that talking part at the end. Oh, and I would love to know exactly how they got permission from Micheal Jackson :o

A poor man's NOW Compilation,
By Grizmeister57 (Missoula, Mt) - See all my reviews

If you have children that are five years & younger, this would be a good album to put in your child's boom box or get it in cassette for their tape player. but if your children are six and up. Your better off finding the real songs and burning them if you can find these songs. This album should be saved strictly for the poor folks who wnat music for their kids but cannot afford it. This ablum would be number 1 if it were sold in Rwanda, Sudan or other third world nations since it could be sold for like dirt cheap. Parents, if you buy this album, after your children turn 6 years old. pack this CD and other Ki8dz Bop CD's and send them to Africa. This is Pop music for impoverished folks.
