4.0 out of 5 stars A spooky "first" Halloween book for youngsters, December 5, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Halloween Party (Paperback)
This is the first book I remember reading about Halloween. Unfortunately, this book is no longer being produced, which is a shame as it is such a gem for kids and families alike.

Farady Folsum (what a name!) goes into the woods en route to a Halloween party. Along the way, he stumbles upon a ghoulish festival chock full of ogres, witches and various monsters. While watching a game of hide-and-seek between the ghouls, Farady is discovered hiding in the trees. The ogres take him back to the party and are about to feast on him when Farady rushes off with a witch. The witch offers him an "Arab Scarab"...a pendant which will capture the magic of the night for him.

Farady finally finds his way back to the Halloween party with his friends. He swears it was real, but wakes up to discover his "Arab Scarab" is missing. But Farady, and the reader, knows it was real!

This book is great for young children. It does not overindulge in frightful images, but rather puts the fun of Halloween into perspective. The pictures are great and the story is not too complicated. I love this one and would suggest anyone who can afford to do so grab a rare copy for your children's and grandchildren's library!!!
