5.0 out of 5 stars Not just for Halloween anymore. (;
I have to say, I'm pretty shocked by these negative reviews and that I'm leaving the first positive one. This album, along with Volume 2 (which is even better, in my opinion), has been a long-time favorite of mine and my family's. It's a Halloween staple for us as well as something we used to listen to in the car all the time (back in the days when cars actually came with...

2.0 out of 5 stars Not What I Expected
First of all, these songs are all remakes, and not very good ones at that. Second, where did anyone get the idea that "Macho Man", "Let's Go Dancin'", and "Disco Inferno" are Halloween songs? All in all, I was very disappointed in this cd. Save your money- this is not worth it.

Ditto to what everyone else said. The songs are all remakes, (poor ones at that) and many of the songs on this CD do not belong on a halloween track. I wouldn't buy it if you are looking for a good Halloween CD. But it's decent if you like Disco.

I bought this a couple years ago. Half the music on this CD has nothing to do with Halloween. Whatever happend to 'Thriller', 'Werewolves of London' and other timeless classics? They are not on this CD.

1.0 out of 5 stars Dreadful, Hackneyed Re-Recordings, September 8, 1999

Not only are none of these the original recordings of the songs in question, but they aren't even decent remakes! The TIME WARP is an especially poorly butchered piece.

4.0 out of 5 stars Feeling Good, November 26, 2010

I wanted this CD for a Halloween party, and I thought that I purchased it too late. I was so glad that it came in on time. Some of the songs are kind of Korny, but it is still fun when you are dancing drunk to songs you never even herd of. LOL!! I still liked it. Monster Mash is my favorite Halloween song.

I have to say, I'm pretty shocked by these negative reviews and that I'm leaving the first positive one. This album, along with Volume 2 (which is even better, in my opinion), has been a long-time favorite of mine and my family's. It's a Halloween staple for us as well as something we used to listen to in the car all the time (back in the days when cars actually came with cassette players, that is.) If you're looking for the original versions of these songs, then naturally you're going to be disappointed. But the performances on this album are fresh, lively, and excellent in and of themselves. There's absolutely nothing wrong with them. Sure, you might at first wonder what some of them are doing on a Halloween album, but eventually you'll simply accept it, because not only will they become associated with the holiday and season...but you'll realize that there is SOMEthing about each number that feels, for whatever odd reason, appropriate for Halloween--or at least, for a party!

I can't begin to imagine how many times I've listened to these wonderful tapes. They're totally ingrained in my head and generate good memories whenever I hear or think about any of the songs. I have my favorites, of course, but there's not a stinker on there. All in all, I've gotta be the voice of dissent on here...my verdict on Drew's Famous Halloween Party Music is that it rocks!
