Howarth delivers the goods and more!,
By
This review is from: Halloween 5: The Revenge Of Michael Myers - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (Audio CD)
In Halloween 4, Howarth took an experimental approach to Carpenter's original score. The overall result was a glorious success. Heavily layered with dense and atmospheric ambiences, Howarth's variations on Carpenter's classic themes were inventive. The score to Halloween 5 continues this tradition.
However, Howarth does not simply recycle the classic themes. Instead, he introduces several of his own themes, each one designed to reflect narrative elements of the film. For instance, the mysterious stranger who appears frequently throughout the movie is represented by an eerie melody within a dark and sinister soundscape. Another example is the inhuman chanting used by Howarth to highlight the introduction of the esoteric Thorn symbol. There are several melodic threads that continue to resurface throughout the score, which illustrate Howarth's outstanding sense of thematic continuity. Howarth is truly a genius and there could have been no better musician to inherit Carpenter's score. The score of Halloween 5 vividly bears out this contention.

Well,I don't care for the 5 rock songs at the beginning of this CD.Sounds like bad VH1 stuff.Very 80s.Anyway,the score is great(tracks 6-16).Very moody and scarey soundscapes with familiar melodies here and there.I love the scores for 4 and 5.More modern and effective for underscoring fright.

I have heard all of the HALLOWEEN soundtracks and I must say that this one is the scariest of them all. Each musical score has it's own feeling and mood and the five rock songs in the beggining are a good add on to the soundtrack. If you are new to the HALLOWEEN series and their soundtracks, then this is definitely the first one you want to check out.

A great Halloween score,

I own four Halloween soundtracks, and this is my favorite. Halloween 5\The Revenge has the main theme done in two ways: first a synthesizer version, and then an electric piano incantation. The Evil Child Must Die is Jamie's new theme that sounds like metal hitting metal. First Victim, Rachel's death theme, goes quiet loud quiet. In A Stranger In The House, the main theme follows "Michael" chasing Jamie through the clinic, and then we have myers house and Man in Black. At Tower Farm, Tina dies to main theme and shape stalks variations. Stop the Rage has main theme and shape stalks on percussion. The Attic is very calm, except for shape stalking, and it has a COOL main theme at the end. Jail break features Man in Black and some other stuff. Halloween Finale is a slow main theme. Just about every song on this CD has a harp sound someplace, that adds to the creepiness. This CD is overall excellent!

Best to just skip the songs and listen to the moody score.,

The producers of the Halloween 5 soundtrack choose to include many of the disposable 80s songs that clogged up the ambient soundtrack (i.e. they are either heard playing on a car radio or at the Halloween bash the teenage victims to be attend at the farm). Of course if you like that kind of music feel free to listen to it. However I do not and recommend to those who share my film score passion to simply skip them and move on to another fine Howarth offering.Parts of the score for Halloween 5 are darker and more claustrophobic than the one for part 4. It also invokes the growing supernatural elements this entry attempted to build into the story by using vocal sounding chants amongst the humming and thumping. The finale features an outstanding sounding cover of the Halloween Theme that will be a welcome addition to any horror fans library. Recommended.

I have been a Halloween/Michael Myers fan for over 11 years now, and I must say that the Halloween 5 soundtrack rocks. First the music that you can just groove to like, "Romeo, Romeo," and "Dancin til Midnight." I turn up the radio when the Halloween finale comes on! It is just the ultimate best cd with the best songs! You will want to play this cd over and over again.

VERY EERIE SCORE,CORNY MUSIC,
This review is from: Halloween 5: The Revenge Of Michael Myers - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (Audio CD)
Since I have been a huge "HALLOWEEN" fan since I was9 years old, it was pretty obviouse that I never bad talk"HALLOWEEN",but this has got to be an exception. The music they chose to put in the film was terribke, but to put it on the soundtrack? Come on ,who do you think we are? Other than the music being terrible, the score is the most eerie eerie music I've ever heard,I loved it.Any "HALLOWEEN" fan should buy this CD and not think twice, but people who don't care for "HALLOWEEN",you may want something else.

Halloween 5 Album Good But A Disapointment.,

Being a die-hard fan of the first four Halloween Films and soundtracks, I have to say that I was disapointed by the fifth movie and even more so on the soundtrack. The songs are catchy rock fluff but lets face it, it's the music that makes it. I just wasn't into the hard loud effects. I just wasn't a fan.
