5.0 out of 5 stars Grab Your Brooms!, August 19, 2005
By
"Halloween Sky Ride" is a very deliightful-spooktacular childrens (that includes the grown-up kids too) book. I have several of this author's books and she never disappoints. I love her books because she not only tells a charming story - but all of her stories have very important messages and this book is no exception. Whether you read this book aloud or to yourself you cannot help but chuckle and smile. This is a book to keep and share with your kids, other kids and grandchildren not to mention that the grown-up kids will want to read this several times themselves. The bonus to this book is the illustrations - a match made in heaven! I suggest you "Grab Your Brooms" and get this book before all the goblins have gobbled it up!!!

Great Halloween story , enjoyable for all ages but especially for young children. Not a bit scary, a fun story with absolutely fantastic illustrations. The story is reminiscent of Room on the Broom, in that the witch picks up assorted characters to ride along on her broom with her. In this story the witch is on her way to a party. But after picking up all of her passengers her broom brakes, she arrives late and there isn't any food left. Well of course everyone that was riding on the broom is starving ( witch, skeleton, jack o lantern, ghost, bat, black cat, and a mummy)so they decide to go trick or treating. They spot a house were there is a Halloween party in progress, and they ring the bell for trick or treat. The hostess is so impressed with what she believes are their costumes that she invites them in , and they have hit pay dirt , because there is plenty of food. After they have eaten they borrow a mop to replace the broom stick that broke, and they are off on their way again.Anyone who enjoys Room on the Broom will enjoy this story, definitely one to add to your Halloween book collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars A DELIGHTFULLY FUNNY HALLOWEEN TALE, October 4, 2005
I am always on the lookout for new and funny Halloween books from my three year old. As an October baby he just loves everything about Halloween. This is a new book and is one of the best we've found in a long time. A witch is on her broomstick flying to the Witches Wobble, a big party. But along the way she encounters a host of Halloween characters who hitch a ride on the broom including a skeleton, pumpkin, Mummy, black cat, ghost, and a bat. Soon the broomstick comes crashing to the ground under all the weight. They arrive to the party only to find that all of the food is gone. The group then decides to go trick or treating and eventuall crash a kid's Halloween party. With their bellies full it's off home on a sturdy new mop! Elizabeth Spurr has written a very humorous Halloween story that kids 3 - 6 will love. Great illustrations from Ethan Lang as well.
