Let me start by saying I'm 26 and a collector of stuff I like. I buy figures, open them, pose them, and set them on display. I do not play with them or handle them much. That said, this is easily the cheapest figure I have ever owned. I read reviews before I purchased it, but figured the bad reviews came mostly from parents who bought it for their children. I was wrong. As I removed the figure from the plastic package, the shoulderpads fell off. Poorly fit. I cut off some flashing that had been left on and they fit better but would still fall off if the figure was held upside down. The joints were all stuck except for the head and elbows, all of which are extremely loose. Using a set of pliers I was carefully able to break the seals holding the stuck joints in place, however one of the legs still will not move and if I twist it any more I'm sure it will break off the ball joint. When I twisted the upper torso slightly, it came off. The ball joint holding it on also had some excess flashing that needed to be removed, but the whole figure will pull in half with minimal force or if I twist it slightly. The right hand fingers were molded to the thumb, making it impossible to hold the gun. I cut them apart and it fits now. I own 4 other McFarlane figures currently from the Halo series and have owned several Spawn ones in the past. All of them were of much more solid craftsmanship. This figure is so cheap that I actually decided to write a review to warn other potential buyers, a first for me. I will say that the likeness of the figure to the character is great and paint job is on par with the rest of the series. You might be happy with the figure if you plan to leave it in it's original packaging. If not, beware and be prepared with a tube of superglue.

As others have commented, leave it in the box! Upon removing from the box, the arm fell off, the armor fell off, and the legs can't move. I worked with it for a while and was able to get most of this moving and back together without to much work. You cannot pose the arms very well. The right hand has to be opened and stretched to hold the weapon. And do not for any reason think that a child can actually play with this. Like others, mine is on display only. It's very frustrating as this is my first purchase of the line of figures and I am extremely reluctant to consider making a second purchase.
All that said, the paint and detail on the figure is truly great. Still, it just seems like a half ass job.

I bought this for my 10 year old son, who has many Halo figures. The minute we took it out of the package, the arms tore apart, and would not hold back together. It is poorly made. Pieces were just falling apart and we couldn't put them back because they wouldn't stay in place. My son's reaction was, "Wow,this is cheap." I would not recommend it to anyone who plays with action figures, or collectables. The other Halo action figures, and collector's items that my son has were not 'cheap' like this one.

I got this item for my 12 yr. old daughter. She has been collecting Halo figures for years and must have a dozen+. I picked this up at our local Toys-r-Us along with some other Halo figures and this one was by far the WORST. All the joints were locked up and the shoulder armor immediately popped off. The fingers were so poorly molded that it was nearly impossible to fit the weapon. No sooner do I get the gun in his hand and hand it back to her for inspection, the arm snaps off. We were aghast! Not only that, this figure is slightly smaller than the Spartans and we joked that maybe the Rookie gets fed less. At least we got a laugh out of the experience. I took it back and was glad that I didn't save it for Christmas. I'm even more happy about the fact that I paid $11.99 for it because I see it now on Amazon for nearly twice as much. I also took back the Mongoose with Mark IV because his elbow kept swinging a 360.

This toy arrived with the fingers of its right hand glued together. When we separated them, it became apparent the right arm does not bend at the elbow (it's articulated, but the body armor prevents the arm from bending) - a major flaw when it comes time to blast away with the rifle!
From examining the figure, I believe the arm may have been assembled backwards at the factory - the armor appears reversed compared to the left arm (where the flap is in back of the elbow, not at the bend). However, the figure in the picture has a straight arm, so maybe this is just bad design. 6" action figures typically have a short life expectancy around our house - we have baskets full of mutilated soldiers. But this is the first one we've gotten that's been unplayable right out of the box.

I love Halo 3 and Halo 3 ODST and the figures looks great, but the figure is pure garbage loose joints all over, wrist came off of joint...
McFarlane re-release this figure with better quality cuz this was just terrible.

This is by far the weakest Halo Action Figure to date that I have. He is small, and his left leg broke off in my hands literally 15 second after he was taken out of the package.
Size: He is quite a bit shorter than the other figures. He is skinnier, and his weapon is tiny compared to other two-handed guns that others carry. Broken: The joint that holds his left leg snapped off as I was trying to move it. I am gentle with all of the action figures from McFarlane since they tend to paint completed figures and they tend to stick a little anyway. The leg did not have a chance. So, it has been glued on to a stationary position, and now he can only stand. That being said, the armor is neat looking and different than the other Halo figures. He does stand out a little, and look like he would be easy to kill. I guess that is what happens when you are the "rookie."

When I received my first one, before it came out of the box, both arms had fallen off. I tried for two hours so snap them on, but to no avail and now I have a very sore thumb. Luckily Amazon said they would send me another one. Well it just got here, and one of the arms has fallen off. I'm not even going to try with this one. I see that Amazon has placed this product under review, and that's a good thing because it is not ready for sale. The model itself looks very nice, and I'm sure it would look amazing if it had arms, but until all this gets sorted out don't buy this.

This figure is a total waste of money. right out of the package i had major problems. the left arm fell right of and the shoulder plate would not stay on.On the plus side it comes with a silenced sub machine gun and a medal. If you want him because he looks like a normal trooper get the series 8 marine he is much better not worth [...] dollars or anything at all>

Bought this figure and the wrist broke within a half-hour. You guessed it, the other wrist broke right after that. One movement and bingo it broke. Now I know why the stores aren't selling this item. DON'T BUY IT UNLESS YOU KEEP IN THE PACKAGE.
