Halo 3 Series 6 Spartan Soldier Recon (White),

This review is from: Halo 2009 Wave 3 - Series 6 Spartan Soldier Recon (Toy)
I was excited to find this figure for cheap in a store, after seeing it go for $60 plus online. Like one of my fellow reviewers has perviously stated, the figure looked great in the box. When I opened it however, both arms fell off. I was able to loosely put them back on, but if you touch the figure in the wrong way they fall off. That was my first dissapointments of many.
My first dissapointment was the dual magnums. At first I was excited to see these but after close examination I was dissapointed. The magnums both have pegs on the same side, which means you can't put one magnum on each of his legs (well you can but one will be backwards). I was excited to see a second hole added on the left leg to hang accesories from but with the magnums being identical it is rather pointless. Why couldn't they have put removeable and pegs on the magnums? The second major dissapointment with the magnums is their size. While it is possible to put the magnum in the right hand with ease, the left hand is another story. Promotional pictures show that this figure has two identical hands, with trigger fingers exposed. THIS IS FALSE. The hand sculpts are no different from any other spartan figure (trigger hand, and the cradling hand). The magnum can't fit in the left hand properly because the trigger guard is too small for the hands. At best it looks like the figure is loosely gripping the weapon. On the positive side, once you can find an action pose he won't fall apart in, this is a sharp looking figure. The paint job on mine was a bit lacking but the figure still looks great regardless. The extra hole on the left leg is something that would be great to see on future figures. In short this figure is not worth the high dollar value charged for it online. I was lucky I found it at a retail store, for retail price, and if it wasn't for that I would have been thoroughly frustrated. I wish I would have kept it packaged. Unless you are die-hard Halo fan who covets this figure as much as the armor in the game, I would be wary to buy this figure.

Ever since Halo 3 came out 2 years ago, the Recon Armor has been more pursued by gamers than a masters degree. For some reason, everybody wants it, but no one can get it. (With the exception being buying Halo 3: ODST and completing 7 near impossible task in both games) Now with this figure you "can haz reconz" This figure does a great job of replicating the Recon Armor and is more durable than other MasterChief models, this model is also more poseable and with dual pistols some great poses can be made, an absolute buy if your a halo fan.

OK. Let me say that I got it today (I did the one day shipping) and got it as promised. The toy seemed very durable, but after reading these reviews, I don't want to take a chance. I have ordered several of these (not the same Recon). I'm the type of person who won't play with these, but I put mine on display on my bookshelf and it fits in quite nicely with my other Halo 3 figures. Now, I've heard complaints about not being able to put the Magnum in the trigger hand, and the other hand the Magnum just falls out, which is true. But all you have to do to get the Magnum in the trigger hand is to work at it a bit. But once it's in, it's in there for good (unless you work at it a bit). But you have to have patience. The killionare medal is actually what I have his left leg standing on. Once you find a pose for him (I have his right leg behind his left, a Magnum in his trigger hand and on his right leg, his arm with the Magnum bent up, and his head looking to the right (so when you see him he is looking at you). I am planning to get more of these and put them with the rest of my collection. Well worth the money. Oh, and I've heard a lot of people say that the arms and legs break, but that's only if you have a young kid who's going to be slamming it around a lot. For collectors: this is a must-have. For players: this is not so good. And my dog banged into the bookshelf and the figure fell off but stayed in position, so that's my proof it's durable. Overall rating: 5 stars. But like I said, I don't think it would be a good idea to give it to a 7 year old or something like that.

I have had this figure for three months and i found it at fry's for a great price. so far absolutely nothing has broke, and i have had no problems with the build of this figure, except that it's paint job is rather shoddy. overall it's a good buy!

- figure is pretty durable. joints moved with relative ease without getting loose.
- guns do not fit in either hand. the trigger hand barely holds onto it and the cradle hand isn't even close. - the paint is pretty clean. the left side of the golden part of the helmet was completely missed. - a rifle is more fitting for his hands than the magnums. make sure you have extra weapons. - overall, the cheapest and easiest way to get recon. the only other ones are the gamestop steel and grifball orange.

Definitely my favorite choice for a Halo Figure, a little pricey for an action figure but I suggest it as a first choice.

i recieved the action figure very promptly and it looked great in the box. however, after i opened the thing up i quickly discovered the arm was already broken and had been pressed on loosly again before it was put in the box. im used to mcfarlane toys being of less playable quality and more of high detail... but come one, it's like the tan scout from series 2 all over again. i am currently getting a replacement and look forward to posesing a non broken one very soon.

hey, these mcfarlanes are awesome!
BUT, I would like to see better paint jobs on the heads (well, bodies too, but that is more forgivable since the heads are most important) The quality of the paint jobs on the Halo figures is usually good, but more often than not, there are MAJOR issues leading me to either be frustrated, or have to touch up the paint jobs myself, and after paying big bucks for these figs, that's usually not going to make me happy..... Recon is awesome, paint jobs are not. 5 stars for the figure, 2 stars for the paint jobs......

I am over 13 but my son is not. I was very unhappy with this toy because it was broken instantly. The right hand came off as soon as my son moved the arm and the body armor was pressed in place but one of the pegs was not in the hole so it was smashed and the armor set off the chest significantly. I thought it was just a bad figure but he also got the rookie figure at the same time (Christmas presents) and it broke just as easily.
