The figure is great! Although it has only a few points of articulation, its cheap, extremely detailed, and very cool. Must have for any halo toy collector or action figure player.

Halo Flood Combat Form HUMAN Review(figure/statue),

This review is from: Halo 3 Flood Combat Human (Toy)
The Mcfarlene Toys(Tood Mcfarlene popular for making the Spawn comic books and novels) Halo series is an amazing series of beautifully sculpted species, people and other things in the Haloverse. The figures in general however, have problems with production problems leading to stiff joints, bad scaled weapons and the like.
However, the Flood Combat Form doesn't actually share those. I'll keep it simple. It is a very detailed figure, more of a statue with a pivoting arm and leg. Which is fine, I keep my figures as a way to ornate my desks, mantles and such. The gun accessory it came with, an SMG, fits well enough to stay in there when the figure isn't moved. It has a hard time standing and needs the black plastic plate that comes with it to hold itself up(the figure is very irregular in shape, the weight only seems distributed to one leg). To prevent stress from the peg and peg hole as the feet are not even with each other, I just put a bunch of coins under his right foot. Now it looks balanced and really cool to show off on top of a fireplace or desk. It looks plenty horrifying as it always had in the games. Generally its not meant to be played with or articulated/posed much, more of a statuette. Same can be said for some of the other Halo figures. I'd recommend a buy. Make your desk look cool!

Disturbingly horrific reminder of the Flood's true goals...,

For those not in the know, the Flood are a parasitic species found in the Halo universe. Through the use of Infection forms (small multi-legged and antennaed creatures), they attack, take over, and mutate the bodies of sentient creatures. Whether the sentient is alive or dead makes no difference, so long as the body is in servicable condition. Species doesn't matter so long as it has sufficient mass to be intelligent. They've been shown to infect Human, Sanghelli (Elites), Unggoy (Grunts), and Jiralhanae (Brutes). This one happens to be an unlucky UNSC Marine, equipped with his SMG.
The Combat Form seen here is the second stage of the Flood life cycle. Eventually this form will turn into a Carrier Form and pass the infection on to more unlucky creatures. Now that the backstory is out of the way, we can get to the toy itself. It is very very detailed. One can see the look of pain etched onto the soldier's face, the stubble of his shaved head and the joints of the chitinous extensions of the Flood infection. He comes equipped with a single UNSC issue SMG. The gun comes with, if I recall correctly, a single storage peg that is common to the Halo figures. Unfortunately, this peg has no where to go on this figure, so it would be very easily lost. The gun is also rather difficult to get into his hand, as shown in the picture. I ended up putting the SMG on my Master Chief figure. As to the articulation...well...there isn't a whole lot. The torso moves slightly, the arms rotate (in particular, the Flood arm) and the hands rotate. No articulation to the legs. The figure also requires a circular display stand (included) to remain upright. He's not really a 'play' figure, but rather a 'display' figure. Durability...I have a bit of concern with this figure. The form has three feelers/tentacles extending from the chest. If the figure falls over, there is the chance that these will be damaged. On the upside, the Flood arm (right side in the picture) has a hand that can easily hold the Fragmentation Grenade that came with my Master Chief.

Nice detail but...,

This figure has great detail. I collect Halo action figures and when I saw this at Wal-Mart, I just had to have it. It doesn't have much articulation, only the wrists come to mind. It comes with a stand so he can remain somewhat upright. The S.M.G. (gun) is awsome, however, when I tried to get him to hold it, it broke. I wouldn't advise trying to fit it into the hand unless your verrry careful. The detail is astounding, and when my sister came over she nearly threw up. =)
If your a collecter, this might be worth buying, if you were going to get it for your child, you might want to give it a miss.

Order shipped and arrived very quickly, detail looks great! Obviously not intended as a toy but looks great decorating my shelf! :) Very pleased with this order. There was some trouble getting in the SMG and his left arm doesn't want to move hardly at all, but with a little effort he got posed. Great buy.

it had great detail, it comes with an SMG which is my favorite halo3 gun. The marines head you can take off and on. The only bad thing is it should be able to flex more places but over all this is an awsome toy.

If you have played any Halo game, you can probably agree that the Flood is a scary foe. They are zombie-like in appearance, but extremely fast and strong in ability. They action figure of this creature is quite scary, because you can easliy relate the character to an experience you had in the game. This is a must for any Halo fan.

Writing this on behalf of my 10yo. Human flood is perhaps the most disgusting of his extensive HALO collection. However, it is very well made, and very graphic in appearance. He absolutely loves it! This character would make a nice addition to any HALO collection. A pleasant change from the usual Master Chief and Arbiter fare.

I bought this item for my ten year old boy. He was overjoyed, as most boys whose spirits have not been fully broken by public schools would be...but the heads broke off rather quickly. This item is along the lines of the typical mcfarlane "action figures", really meant for adults to collect, not children to play with. Think of it as being like the Janice Joplin figure, not like a Rescue Heroes figure.
It's a genre that has abandoned children for deeper-pocketed adults, like h0 scale trains. It's accurate and fun to see, but more for looks than play. |
