5.0 out of 5 stars The right product for us, May 27, 2009
By S. R. Toner (Boston, MA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
We tried this after some failed attempts using the Kiddopautomus (sp?) SwaddleMe. This worked much better for what we needed. Our son was too long and skinny for the SwaddleMe to stay on properly. This gets around the problems we faced by:

1) Zippered leg sack. We found the SwaddleMe would get kicked off by our baby's long legs since it was only held on by Velcro. Having the zippered compartment got around this problem easily. Also by zippering from the top down, there's no worries about scratching or accidentally coming down.

2) Wings. Our big problem with the SwaddleMe was that our baby was too skinny for the velcro to attach to, since it had a small strip for securing it. This product has a large area for the velcro to attach to, so there's no problem getting it snug enough. We've never had a problem with his arms getting free and waking him up in the middle of the night with this product, which I can't say about the SwaddleMe.

The only cons we've found with this product are:
1) It's more expensive than the SwaddleMe. It costs about twice as much.
2) I can only find the ones with the Swaddle wings in Newborn size, which goes up to 12 pounds. While I'm hoping he'll have enough arm control by then to stop waking himself up, I'm not sure about that. Looking at the sleepsack the next size up, it will be pretty simple to modify it to use the Newborn wings, which will still fit.

Bottom line is that we found this product by accident due to the SwaddleMe not working very well. We were walking around Babies R Us, going "We need to find something that works." Well, we found it and I can't recommend it highly enough, especially for a tall, skinny baby.

5.0 out of 5 stars NICU nurse, June 8, 2010
I work in a NICU where we use this brand of Swaddle Sacks. I don't know if the company donates them to us or if we buy them from them, but either way, we all love them. And coming from nurses who are experienced swaddlers, that's saying something. These contain even the squiggly-ist of babies. They are also what the back to sleep program are encouraging parents to use now.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I bought a Miracle Blanket and receiving blankets in hopes of using those. I had a Halo sleepsack, but it was for a larger sized baby. I was SO happy when I found out they had the 'newborn' size with the swaddler attachment. My little guy is not even 8 lbs yet, so this is PERFECT for him. We like the sleepsack portion of it, so easy to unzip and even take off if you need to clean up your baby a little bit more after a diaper change. He likes the swaddle portion better than the Miracle Blanket, because it's easy to position above the arms and even below the arms. It also gives the baby more room to move his/her arms around instead of right by his side, like with the Miracle Blanket.

There is also pretty darn secure velcro straps to the bottom on the swaddle attachment and at the back so it won't slide up and down when your little one moves and wiggles about. This helped me tremendously with my fear that any portion could slide up to his face area obstructing breathing, as the Miracle Blanket sometimes does.

We found out after the first night that if the climate is pretty warm in your room (we don't have AC but it's around 70 degrees in the room) to just put the baby in a side snap shirt or onesie with short arms and no legs. The sleepsuit is warm enough for the baby without all the extra clothing underneath. Plus the swaddle portion will keep his/her arms warm.

My little one also likes sleeping in the sleepsack portion during the day time and in his Graco pack 'n play napper portion. During the night we use the swaddle portion in the Arms Reach co-sleeper. I would recommend to buy at least 2, just in case one gets soiled, you have another on hand.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome
Never slides up over my daughter's face. She can get her arms out, but she is very squirmy. Works better than I can swaddle her with a blanket and always stays closed.
