An undeniably cool toy,

I had already bought a couple of McFarlane Halo figures before I bought this one, so I already knew that the articulation and presentaion (armor detail) of the ODST would be pretty good. However, I've found that each McFarlane Halo figure has their own unique fault to them. Some can't stand up on their own very well. Others have limbs that fall off easily. And others have armor plates that should just be ignored, they fall off so quickly. The fault of this ODST figure is that he can't hold his weapon very well. Sure, he can hold it at his waist or mid chest, but he can't maneuver his arms around the chest plate so that he can look through the scope of his battle rifle. There are other flexibility issues in his waist and legs, and they are all because of the armor. This is bothersome, but the way that the ODST is presented, with incredible detail, including his height which is a head shorter than his Spartan Super-Soldier comrades, is very impressive. Overall, this figure has some articulation issues, but is an otherwise incredibly enjoyable action figure and desk prop.

I bought this for my son, on his 12th Birthday. He was totally stoked. He is a huge HALO fan, and we hit a home run with this one. It sits on his TV when he plays HALO.

I love the ODST's. I think they're some of the coolest looking characters in the Halo games and I was really excited about FINALLY getting one for my collection shelf. The good news is- the character looks very cool. He's even shorter than the Chief- so it looks good scale wise. The bad news is- they did a TERRIBLE job with the pose joints. The legs can't move. The arms don't move well enough to even hold the gun. The gun is too small- so small you can't even swap it with one of the MC guns for variety- it's just not possible. The gun has a hole in it for the peg which- BTW - doesn't even fit in his back so you can't even mount the gun that way.
In the End Very cool character done as a very poorly constructed figure. Don't bother unless you're a ODST freak (like me).

As Comic Book Guy would say, "This is not a 'toy'...it's a scale model replica."
Yet even given that, the McFarlane Halo figures are becoming notorious for their lack of pose-ability and general difficulties in gun-holdingness. Such qualms aside, this is an amazingly great looking figure. It trumps the Spartan ODST by a mile in regards to detail/"coolness." The accuracy of the figure is not appreciable in online photos; had I not seen it in person, I'd probably slough it off in favor of another Stalker. This is quite possibly the pick of the litter in this release. I've seen almost all of them in person - this is a ringer.

I love mine. The Mcfarlane Halo 3 toys are not as durable as many people would like. But they make up for it in detail and accuracy to the source material.
This ODST is arguably my favorite of the bunch so far, neck to neck with my steel colored CQB Spartan that I love to run around with in the game as well. The detail, and paintjob is just superb. And like others have said, his scale in relation to the Spartans is great. It's really nice to see the regular UNSC soldiers represented in a set. Without looking so... dorky like in the old Halo I figures from years ago. Hoping to get some UNSC pilots, regular troopers, and hey... who else wants one of those awesome female Dropship pilots!!! =)

Limited range of limb movement for posing figure. Battle Rifle was hard to position in advertising photos. McFarlane can make the range of movement similar to the Spartan Figures! With the upcoming release of Halo3 ODST this fall I hope McFarlane gives the Rookie Figure similar movement to the Spartan's!
I was planning on using modern weaponry with my ODST, so the Battle Rifle was put in storage. Any 1:18 scale weapon can be used in its place so that is one major plus, finding one that would look good is up to the owners preference. Personally I added a M16/M203 and a ruck sack for the future warrior look!

I have a lot of Spartan figures, and they were pretty good, so I figured that this figure would be similar. I was wrong. The figure has much less articulation than the Spartans. His elbows and shoulders are limited to up and down movements, and he can't hold a gun with two hands. Also, his hand was so stiff that when I tried to move it, his entire hand broke off at the wrist immediately. Also, his weapon is smaller than the exact same weapon that comes with Spartan figures for no reason at all, as other human-sized figures can hold Spartan weapons perfectly fine.

This is not a toy, its a collectors item for posing and leaving alone. I bought it for a kid thinking he would enjoy it but the arm pads fell of and all the joints are stiff. the joint manipulation is poor as well, its movements are unnatural. awesome detail but a poor toy as a gift
