4.0 out of 5 stars Not Complete, But Great.
I've been waiting for some sort of boxed set to come out. I love all the music in the series, and I've played the games as well.

Now, some aspects of this boxed set are a little disappointing. For instance, this set doesn't include all the originally released soundtracks. Also there isn't any literature about the music or the games included. All the credits...

1.0 out of 5 stars Not "The Complete Original Soundtrack"
I'm a huge fan of the Halo series and I was surprised and disappointed to discover that the Halo 2 Vol. 1 Soundtrack is NOT included as part of this set. I own all the other individual soundtracks; Halo CE OST, Halo 2 Vol. 1 OST, Halo 2 Vol. 2 OST, and the Halo 3 OST so I figured it'd be nice to have the complete set as part of my collection. I've been waiting for some sort of boxed set to come out. I love all the music in the series, and I've played the games as well.

Now, some aspects of this boxed set are a little disappointing. For instance, this set doesn't include all the originally released soundtracks. Also there isn't any literature about the music or the games included. All the credits are printed on the inside parts of the box though.

On the positive side, the set comes with a bonus DVD with a Halo Wars sneak peek and preview of the upcoming title's music. The only problem with that is the fact this is supposed to be the Halo Trilogy Complete Original Soundtracks. Not the 'most of the music plus a bit of other game music' collection.

Overall, though, I am satisfied with my purchase. This will make carrying around my favorite soundtracks a lot easier.

I hope in the future we will see another collection, with the COMPLETE soundtracks and literature about the music and games.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not "The Complete Original Soundtrack", December 2, 2008

This review is from: Halo Trilogy- The Complete Original Soundtracks (OST) (Audio CD)
The description mentions 5 discs so I figured it would be the complete set, but in place of the Halo 2 Vol. 1 OST there is a Halo Wars bonus DVD with Halo Wars music and some behind the scenes Halo Wars features. I would have been totally fine with a "bonus" DVD if it wasn't in place of the actual soundtrack.

I can't say enough good things about the actual music from the games. I would highly recommend purchasing the soundtracks for each game individually to get the complete experience. I can't justify recommending a "Complete Soundtrack" that omits tracks such as Peril, Heretic Hero as well as other classic tracks only found on the Halo 2 Vol. 1 Soundtrack.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not "Complete", December 4, 2008
This review is from: Halo Trilogy- The Complete Original Soundtracks (OST) (Audio CD)
I was incredibly disappointed to open this package up and discover that Halo 2, Disc 1 was NOT included. It is NOT a "complete" set of soundtracks. If I had known that a disc would be missing, I would have just bought all the soundtracks separately!

5.0 out of 5 stars Score!, February 21, 2009
This review is from: Halo Trilogy- The Complete Original Soundtracks (OST) (Audio CD)
When I first came to this soundtrack it looked like a good deal, but I'd get a duplicate of the Halo 2 v1 cd I bought back in 2004. Much to my supprise it was not included. I think I am the only one reviewing this that appreciates the fact that it was not included. I can see why they left it out. Halo 2 v1 does not "fit" with these other soundtracks because of the band music ie Breaking Benjamin, Hoobastank, and Incubus. Don't get me wrong H2v1 is a great cd. There is only the score in the 4 disc set. This set is for fans of Halo who enjoy the music of the game. Listening to the music reminds me of playing the games. To sum it up. If you bought any of the other Halo soundtracks except Halo 2 v1 Don't buy this. If you are like me and you only own or don't own Halo 2 v1 pick this up. Great music on this collection

5.0 out of 5 stars Despite missing music, well worth the price., February 28, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Halo Trilogy- The Complete Original Soundtracks (OST) (Audio CD)
The Halo Trilogy Complete Original Soundtrack collection is definitely a solid product. It includes the full soundtracks from the first and third games, plus mixes of the music from the second game, by level. To reiterate, Halo 2: The Original Soundtrack Volume 2 is included, but Halo 2: The Original Soundtrack VOLUME 1 IS NOT. This is the major complaint with the set, that the full tracks from the second game are NOT included. That said, Volume 2 gives a good taste of how the entire game, as well as each individual level, feels. In addition to these soundtracks, a DVD about Halo Wars is included, with a few tracks and a making-of video included.

Overall, the soundtrack set is well worth the price. Purchasing this set and Halo 2: Volume 1 separately comes to about the same price as purchasing all three soundtracks individually, but without Halo 2: Volume 2 or the Halo Wars DVD.

2.0 out of 5 stars Incomplete., December 29, 2008

As others have said, this set is missing Vol. 1 of the Halo 2 soundtrack, I imagine because of licensing issues... However, my issue with this is that it doesn't say that in the product description. I didn't know Halo 3's soundtrack had two disks, and I bought this before there were any customer reviews posted, so I didn't know this before I bought it.

Still, the music itself is great, and I'd still recommend this to any Halo fan that doesn't already own the CD's in this set.

2.0 out of 5 stars Extremely Disappointment, December 25, 2008
This review is from: Halo Trilogy- The Complete Original Soundtracks (OST) (Audio CD)
I was disappointed to find that the Trilogy only contained Disc 2 of Halo 2's music, which in my opinion is the lesser of the 2 disc. Microsoft didn't even make an attempt to hide fact its disc 2. It's say Halo 2 Volume 2 right on the disc.

I figured the bonus DVD was worth the price though, but I was wrong. The bonus DVD contains 2 videos. The first is a montage of clips with people working music soundboards to a Halo Wars song. The second is only half of the Halo Wars Intro video that can be found on the web. The rest of the DVD contains 4 mediocre Halo Wars songs. If it had contained even one piece of unseen Halo Wars video I would have considered it a win, but it doesn't.

I've never said this about Halo before, but I was extremely disappointed. Also the case was very cheaply made. I recommend that everyone buy the HALO soundtracks individually.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Music for an Awesome Game!, January 2, 2009
This review is from: Halo Trilogy- The Complete Original Soundtracks (OST) (Audio CD)
So I noticed a lot of people didn't take the time to actually READ the track list. You can see the track lists on all 4 Halo cd's right here on the page so it shouldn't be any surprise that H2 vol 1 isn't there. That being said, yeah it would have been nice to know that the 5th disc was the Halo Wars bonus dvd.

Love the tracks though. Love the box set and love the preview of Halo Wars.

2.0 out of 5 stars didn't have everything I though it would, October 7, 2011
This review is from: Halo Trilogy- The Complete Original Soundtracks (OST) (Audio CD)
For a "complete" originalk soundtrack, it was missing one of the Halo 2 discs (the one I wanted). Ooops, better luck next time.
