Book Description

A chain of advertising agencies, a new breed of humans, and a fallen angel to worship…

Andel Talistokov is known for his slick advertising agencies across the globe. He is a fallen angel that uses advertising as a weapon for Satan's work. His growing power emboldens him to break several of Hell’s Commandments. Furious with his arrogance, Satan commands him to return to Hell after finding his own replacement. Yezidism, an ancient angel worshiping religion, quietly expands throughout the West. Armaros appears as a guest of honor during their ceremonies. He mates with young women to produce nephilim, a mixed race of humans and angels. They are alone and unprepared for their supernatural power. Joanna Easterhouse, a recovering drug addict, steps out of prison shortly after her mother's fatal accident. She and her sister, Kim, unravel their mother's secretive past. Intrigued, they learn their bloodline is part of a celestial legacy. Both worlds collide. Halo of the Damned is a horrifying tale that weaves research together with suspenseful twists and turns.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun with Demons May 15, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Current cultural trends show a persisting, growing obsession with all things angel, demon, and darkly supernatural, all with a thread of romance thrown into the mix. Fans of this genre will not be disappointed with Dina Rae's Halo of the Damned.

Set ironically in Wheaton, Illinois, a city with one of the highest number of churches per capita, the story opens by acquainting the reader with Andel, the head of an advertising agency that bears the very honest name Evil Empire, after his most recent kill. With just a few leading hints of what is behind this murder, Rae continues with the introduction of heroines Joanna Easterhouse and her sister, Kim. Kim also has a young daughter, Maria, who very early into the story reveals not only her apparent psychic abilities but her importance in the coming maelstrom.

And there is indeed a storm in the making, spun into high gear when Joanna takes a job at the Evil Empire Agency and becomes inadvertently enmeshed in the otherworld intrigue that is the culture of a business run by a fallen angel. The action of this story begins in Wheaton, wanders north of Illinois to Lake Geneva in Wisconsin, and zooms across the ocean to Florence, Italy before the final resolution back in Wheaton.

Amazingly enough, with all of the rituals, murders, and yes, blood-sucking and dismemberment, Rae manages to pull off an ending that is both sweet and believable. Ah, romance, one might say, but perhaps the bottom line is that love really can conquer all, even something as formidable as an army of demon worshippers. And the demon.

This book will intrigue readers of dark romance.

4.0 out of 5 stars dark and graphic May 4, 2013
Format:Paperback
Dina Rae takes the reader into a dark corner of the supernatural world-- the world of demons and nephilim. Andel Talistokov, one of the fallen angels who were thrown out of heaven when Satan rebelled against God, is taking a page out of Satan's book and wants to be worshipped instead of God ... or Satan. Joanna Easterhouse and her family discover they come from a long line of celestial beings who stand against the evil that Andel embodies.

The actions in this book start off dark and graphic--Andel kills his assistant, then partially devours her, and then we discover she was his daughter. And now we are completely aware at this point that his evil knows no bounds.

Dina Rae has a vast imagination and a way with words. Her descriptions are clear and vivid (sometimes almost too much so). If you have a weak stomach, this is definitely not the book for you. However, if you like a fast moving story --one that will keep you on the edge of your seat-- and enjoy being scared, give Halo of the Damned a try. One word of advice, however: don't read it late at night.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing! April 25, 2013
By PamM
Format:Paperback
Joanna has spent a few years in jail for her drug habit. She had the habit do to hearing voices all her life. The drugs kept the voices away. When she is released she goes home to live with her sister and niece. All she wants to do is stay clean and get a job. Her mom left behind many secrets including who their father is. She was hiding so much more that they better prepare to face. Andel is a successful business man with ties to Satan. He grows to cocky and soon begins to ignore Satan's wishes. All his years of evilness is about to catch up with him.

From the first page you can just tell this is going to be a wonderful gore filled book. Starting out you get to see just how evil Andel is and you continue to see more as the book goes along. Joanna, Kim, Maria and all the other characters make this a fascinating book. You never know what is going to be revealed or what will happen next. I love all the tie ins you get the more you read it. The nephilims and angels are so intriguing to read and find out more about. The author does an amazing job create this world you find yourself in. I really hope to see more of these characters and story as I think it has only stared.

4.0 out of 5 stars Serious Paranormal April 17, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Dina Rae's Halo of the Damned, a different type of paranormal, is published by Eternal Press. Instead of the retelling of Gods and Goddesses, Ms. Rae decides to go with one of Satan's own. As many of you have suspected after bombarded by images of perfect slender females in commercials, there is pure evil in advertising. This happens to be a devil named Andel's tale.

Andel shows up in Wheaton, Illinois to do Satan's bidding, or at least that's the plan. Andel head up an advertising firm named Evil Empire. He's so successful because he really knows how to use subliminal advertising to feed into people's fear and inherent greed. Think Mad Men only more modern. The story opens with a recent murder, and not much rationale behind it. Perhaps, murder is what dark angels do. Like all advertising executives, Andel becomes full of himself and does not feel the need to follow his original orders.

Enter our female characters, who more than what they seem, and more than what they know. Joanna Easterhouse, talk about a telling name, her sister Kim, and her daughter Maria are a bit different. Unaware that they aren't fully human, their psychic gifts come as a surprise, not necessarily a pleasant one either.

As you would expect Joanna takes a job at the Evil Empire and becomes involved in Andel's machinations. A battle for domination ensues. It takes place on the world stage and culminates in Wheaton. This fast paced, and sometimes gory, story takes advantage of the Yezidism, angel-worshipping religion to support its premise.

Halo of the Damned does have dark romantic elements rather like Wuthering Heights. Horror, paranormal, dark romance fans should all enjoy this book.
