It's a product that I hate to use, as it's purpose is to repel an attacking dog. But, I do love the reliability and handiness. I've only had to use it about 3 times in 20 years. When I do use it, it does the job wonderfully. It breaks the dogs up and no one is injured.

We have (unfortunately) had to use this twice on dogs that are loose in our neighborhood. Both times it stopped the dog in its tracks and the dog turned right around and walked away. The best part is that it is non-lethal and the dog will not be permanently injured. No wonder postal workers in our area carry this stuff!

I've never had to use this, but wanted it for when I walk my dogs. My mail carrier said that they all carry either this or "Back Off" and I trust what they use. Hopefully I'll never have to use it!

Fortunately I have not had to use my new can of Halt, but on the basis of an experience I had years ago, I'd give it a ten. A snarling German shepherd charged me while I was riding a bike, but a spray of Halt stopped it dead in its tracks. Hopefully the company has maintained the same quality control over its products.

5 years ago, a pit bull came running towards me at the park. In that instant, my 8 year old toy poodle, whom I was walking, jumped in front of me and the pit bull attacked her instead of me. She was instantly killed by his harsh jaw grip. This tore me apart. I wish I would have had Halt! back then. Because of this, I bought Halt! to protect my new puppy. I am glad I did. While walking her in a leashed pet park, an unleashed doberman came running towards my puppy, and I sprayed him with Halt! This saved our lives! I am an animal rights advocate, yet I choose to use this product for protection because it does not create permanent damage. It just stings the attacker's eyes for a chance to escape and separate dog fights. The dog recovered fully with no secondary conditions. To me, a life saved is worth more than 10 minutes of eye discomfort. Definitely recommend this.

I have 2 King Charles Cavalier Spaniels that are walked daily. There is a new Pit Bull in the neighborhood which appeared to have the potential for getting loose. There are also several large dogs that are walked by small owners who struggle to keep them in check. The Pit Bull got loose one day and confronted my dog and I. When it got close I sprayed it. I continued to spray it till it got to about 4 feet away and finally turned around and left. I used almost a whole can of spray. I felt bad that the dog had to suffer for its owners negligence but was pleased that my dog and I were spared possible harm. I reported the complete incident via a sworn statement to Animal Control and received positive feedback in my handling of the incident.

I was so tired of walking in the neighborhood and my dogs getting attacked by dogs who are not being
cared for. First shot and shaggy dog high tailed it under their trailer.

At first I was hesitant to purchase this type of product because I love animals, however I love not getting bit even more. This product has worked well for me in repelling the occasional rabid dog.

I learned of this product from a mailman friend who had been forced to use it with desired results. The size is small so it fits easily into backpacks, coat or shirt pocket, etc.

halt is great product for walking most dogs in my area know to stay away from me when i am out and about but then agan most all dogs in my area are very friendly only a couple of bad ones and this product takes cair of the problem
