Bending light: A more thoughtful Molvaer sound,

This review is from: Hamada (Audio CD)
Quiet, subtle, beautifully produced and a a gravitus towards the more chilled side of NPM's inimitable chill-out music. This is a long way from Streamer and all the albums where 'beat' became the unifying element.
This is one to enjoy for the purpose of contemplation. And an important edition to NPM's cantos of beautiful music. However, it is NOT the ideal choice - unless you are fully into this wonderful style of minimal Nordic fusion dark electronic jazz. Nor is it for the NPM novice. But then again, I don't think anyone will be reading this if you are new to Nil's work. Spend the high price for the import and enjoy the dynamic stillness of this wonderful trumpet player. Boyce

Mesmerising Nordic tones,

Cool Nordic contemporary jazz with an ethereal impressionistic flavour. If you like Garbarek, Wasilewski, Stanko etc you'll like this. One jarring grungy track seems a bit out of place because most of the album is laid back understated stuff conjuring up bleak landscapes. A creative and interesting album that treads its own path.
