I bought a Hamilton collar of this style for a large dog. (120#) Chasing a squirrel in the park he came to the end of the lead and the sharp snap caused the steel ring to come up to the buckle and release the tabs opening the collar. Voila! Loose dog! Not something you would want to have happen around traffic or people who are afraid of dogs.
