I bought this kettle a few months ago and use it daily. It heats water very quickly and is easy to pour without dripping water everywhere. The beautiful metallic red finish is what caught my eye in the first place, as well as the cute round shape. The only drawback of this product however, is that the finish chips rather easily. I accidentally hit the side of it with something I was putting away and the finish flaked off in that area, leaving a tiny silver spot in the middle. The lid edge also has a few very small spots where the finish came off too. I was able to mask them quite well with a touch of red permanent marker fortunately. Overall this is a great little kettle for the money and if you are a bit clumsy in the kitchen, make sure to keep a red permanent marker on hand!

Ordered and received very promptly from Amazon.....Thank You!

I would recommend this kettle as I have had success with Hamilton Beach products.
It heats water very quickly to be used for tea, soups, hot chocolate etc.
The interior is 100% stainless. I did not want to purchase a unit that the water had contact with plastic.
Even when the water has boiled the black base is cool to the touch so you can set it on a counter or table and not worry about discoloring the surface.

To add: it does heat water quickly. Makes a neat gurgling sound like a dragon waking when you heat a full pot and a to add to the effect a squirt of steam comes out when the water is done. Switch lights up with an orange glow when you flip it down to turn on. Tested temp with a kitchen probe when flushing with clean water as the instructions recommend, each time it was 206 degrees F (which is almost perfect to brew coffee.) Construction is all (well mostly all)- stainless steel inside but there is a hole for the plastic viewing window. Must heat at least .5 liter (~2 mugs) of water min. Base is clad in plastic on exterior and cool to touch. The heating base (plug part) was covered in some kind of residue when opened, although it was easily cleaned, odd though.

I bought this pot a few days ago. chose this one because the on/off switch seems sturdier than the other pots i read about. heats water VERY quickly, with no chemical taste or smell. parts don't feel cheap, handle stays cool, though outside of the pot gets hot (though not so hot it will burn you). plenty of clearance between handle and pot so you won't touch it when you grab the handle, and easy to read water level gauge. very satisfied so far.

Shipping was excellent and quick. These comments are solely a reflection of this product. I was amazed that when I got the kettle there were some design features that really should have been caught but not enought for me to return the item. 1. the knob on the lid is in the way when you reach for the handle. I.e. the picture of the hand holding it at the back of the handle. 2. on the water guage it is frosted on the back side, making it difficult but not impossible to see how much water you have added. 3. I had one before that was double walled so the water stayed hot. This one is not so the temperature drops rather quickly. Luckily it reheats quickly. Overall it does what I expect.

Other than the funky on/off switch, which I am now used to, the kettle works well. I only use filtered water so I don't have to worry about scaling. A liter takes about five minutes to heat up. I have used it everyday for over a month. Will report back with any adverse comments.

December 2011 update: This kettle is still performing well. I use it every day and it has given me no problems. Highly recommended,

I just bought this kettle because I don't want any plastic parts inside my cookware. I knew the kettle comes with a little filter with some plastics around it. Since all electric kettles seem to have it, I decided not to use the filter simply to avoid the plastics. However, what I didn't know (before the kettle came) was that there're also two small plastic parts that appear to hold the water level viewer from inside. I have contacted Hamilton Beach to find out what type plastics that is and whether it is BPA free. I will update this review if/when I hear back from them.

For those of you out there who want a 100% plastics free kettle like I did, be aware of this. Especially since recent studies have found certain types of plastics degrade over time and can leak potentially toxic fumes into your water/food. I really wish they didn't put any plastic parts inside a stainless steel kettle - after all, if you've gone to the trouble of finding a stainless steel kettle, why put up with a little plastics inside to ruin it? This is the only reason I'm giving the kettle a 4-star instead of 5.

Otherwise, this kettle is excellent and the quality is good. It is loud compared to my old plastic kettle, but that doesn't bother me at all.

I bought this kettle at target, not from Amazon, (who I adore, by the way) so this is purely a product review. We are tea drinkers, so we boil a kettle at least once a day, and after years, our last kettle died, so we went to pick out a new one. We LOVED the color and style of this kettle, and the speed it boiled the water. After a few weeks of use though, I noticed black flecks falling into my cup when I poured the water, and lo and behold, the inside bottom was flaking and corroded. After only about TWO MONTHS. Don't buy this! I recommend proctor and gamble's less expensive plastic kettle, which is what we had last time, and will now be buying again. It may not be stylish, but at least it LASTS!

I got this teapot for my mom who is 87 and nearly blind and she loves it and uses it at least twice a day. We had been using another teapot until it started to leak after 4 years and this one is perfect. Easy to use and fill, automatic off switch that is easy for a blind person to feel and lit until the water is ready. . . and then it pops up with a click and the light goes out. The cord measures 24 inches.

I was uncertain about ordering an appliance like this without being able to handle it first, but this kettle lives up to its good reviews. It boils up to 1.7 liters at a time, which is more than enough to fill my coffee pot and it does so much more quickly than a traditional kettle on my electric range. I love the automatic shut-off feature and the indicator light for mornings when I'm not wearing my glasses. So far I haven't noticed and mineral build-up, but it will be extremely easy to clean by boiling some vinegar and then just rinsing it out. I would buy this product again and recommend it to others!
