Product Description

Amazon.com Review

Called the BrewStation because there is no "pot" involved, this 12-cup countertop unit from Hamilton Beach keeps coffee hot and fresh until you’re ready for a cup. The enclosed brewing system only dispenses coffee when you depress the trigger with your mug--otherwise, the coffee stays inside, where it's kept hot and flavorful. Mid-brew dispensing makes the appliance handy for anybody in a hurry, and a translucent indicator shows you the liquid level at a glance. An internal warming heater and double-wall thermal insulation maintain brew temperature and freshness, so there’s no hot plate to scorch coffee or make it bitter. Operation is similar to other electric makers, and the entire brew tank removes for easy cleaning. A clock and timer let you set the coffeemaker in advance, and an automatic safety mechanism cuts power after two hours. Other helpful details include a power indicator light, a drip tray, and a water filter. The station measures 10 by 10-1/2 and needs 14 inches of under-the-cupboard clearance. --Emily Bedard

Positively revolutionary! This coffeemaker brews the coffee and keeps it hot until you are ready to dispense it into your waiting mug. No carafe to clean or to break. No warming plate to scorch your coffee. Just press your mug against the recessed panel and coffee is dispensed. This machine also comes with a water filter so you get the freshest, cleanest coffee taste.

4.0 out of 5 stars First Machine Leaked, June 4, 2003
By

This review is from: Hamilton Beach 47224 12-Cup BrewStation with Water Filter, Black (Kitchen)
I saw this machine at the San Deigo Home Show and was intrigued. I've never seen anything like it. So when our third Mr. Coffee glass carafe cracked, we started to research new machines. Honestly, I was drawn to the thermal carafe types like Capresso, but my husband said, "Why don't we try that new one we saw," because he liked the idea of "no pot", and it saves a step when pouring.

I returned the first BrewStation to Sears because it dripped out of the dispenser opening, even during brewing. Then constantly thereafter, "drip, drip, drip." Totally unacceptable, especially since the drip catcher is tiny. My second machine does not have the same drip issues YET, only 1-2 drops after dispensing into your mug. However I remain skeptical that the spring-plug at the opening of the dispenser could have a design flaw, or wear out over time.

PROS: 1) removable water carafe and filter, both with carry handles. 2) Cool design 3) Easy to clean! 4) comes with water filter 5) Electronic buttons are located on the side (not bottom), therefore not susceptible to water damage. 6) Price: I paid [price].

CONS: 1) No "beep" signaling end of brew. 2) No "table service" if you entertain, they have to serve themselves "cafeteria style." 3) Tall, measure for space if you plan to place it on a counter under cabinets.

5.0 out of 5 stars Coffee Shop Coffee in my home EVERY MORNING!, November 9, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Hamilton Beach 47224 12-Cup BrewStation with Water Filter, Black (Kitchen)
I thought burnt tasting coffee after the first cup was something you have to live with. I saw this product advertised on TV and immediately got on line and found the best price at Amazon. I am very happy with the taste and temperature of the coffee. Because of the design, the coffee doesn't sit on the warmer and scorch. It is the best tasting coffee I have ever made and the design is very easy to clean - no more pot! Everything easily lifts off to be rinsed out. No drips on the counter from a carafe while pouring, too. I love it and will never buy another "old fashioned pot" again. This design will do to the carafe style what the carafe style did to the percolator! Make it obsolete!

I finally decided to replace my Black & Decker SpaceMaker after it started leaking & eventually ruined part of my counter. I saw this pot on HGTV during one of the home innovention shows they aired. I knew I wanted it.

I got the BrewStation & out of the box it was so EASY to use. The brew time was so fast, set up was easy, and the taste is INCREDIBLE!!!!!

Thank you Hamilton Beach!!!!
