5.0 out of 5 stars The Darn Thing Just Toasts!!!
This is the best toaster I have ever used or owned! It is very consistent if I put the setting on #3 and toast 6 pieces of bread the last one looks exactly like the first. I love it!, I actually can rely on this machine to do what I want it to do without fail. I never thought a toaster would excite me this much, my only regret is that I got the two-slice model instead...

1.0 out of 5 stars 2 months & the toaster was toast
Worked OK briefly, though we never could see much difference in the results of "bagel" setting vs. "toast." Small slots don't accommodate long slices of handcut bread. But worst, after 2 months it just stopped working. Mechanism that keeps the bread down during toasting failed, without warning...

3.0 out of 5 stars A Well-Made, Reliable Toaster With A Flaw, August 13, 2001
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The flaw is that the highest setting (6) does NOT toast an English Muffin adequately. Otherwise, a five star appliance.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good toaster, January 30, 2001

So far this toaster produces a reliable and consistant quality of toast. We've used it a lot for frozen waffles (2 of five works best for this). The slots are wide enough for bagel halves, but hold thinner slices firmly in place with spring action. This is the right price for getting good toast.

10/18/02, just an update, I've had this toaster for about a year and a half and it is still working great! It is just a good, reliable toaster, nothing fancy but it serves its purpose well. It's a good value!

1.0 out of 5 stars Broke down within 2 months, November 24, 2002

Worst toaster I have ever had. Worked well when it did, but just after two months of use (a few times a week, regular toast, nothing fancy), its cheap mechanical parts broke down. I had to "re-align" the toast holders by hand if I wanted it to work. And today finally even that did not work. Will never buy Hamilton Beach again.

I bought this from my Gold Box...I wouldn't recommend buying it at the regular price. Why not? Well, I call it my Forrest Gump toaster...you never know what yer gonna git. It does have a dial on it, but to my knowledge the dial has nothing to do with the color or degree of burntness of what's being toasted. You can dial 1 and get coal dust; you can dial 4 and keep your waffle frozen.

However, it does have a handy little tray that pulls out so you can clean out the crumbs, instead of having to turn the thing upside down to open it for cleaning (saving the busy homemaker a whole second or two of precious time, I suppose); and it has rescued me from constantly burning my fingers on the element of my electric stove, a daily occurence when I was toasting bread on its broiler setting after my last toaster bit the big one.

1.0 out of 5 stars Crap-o-matic, December 6, 2003
I bought the previous model of intellitoast a couple years ago. It died this morning in a burst of light. My mom has one on the fritz, too. Maybe there just aren't any good toasters in the world. This one stinks - never works right. Have fun!

We've been using this toaster for almost a year now. It seems to be getting less powerful with age! It now takes one and a half cycles to get the bread toasted enough, when it only used to take one cycle on 6. Oh well, so much for the "IntelliToast" concept but it still works. Nothing special, just a regular old toaster.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfectly Toasted Toast!, May 14, 2001
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is the best toaster I have ever had! The first day I got it I sung a happy toaster song in phrase of it's greatness. The song goes like this: "Perfectly toasted toast, yippie! Perfectly toasted toast, wahoo!" Every piece of toast comes out consistantly browned and never burnt or stuck, no matter what size bread or bagel you put into it. I love this toaster, and it's handsome looking I might add.
