I purchased this grill after reviewing the online ratings. I had purchased a contact grill (GF) a few years ago and I had given it away due to the difficulty in cleaning - too much work and hassle.

I spray the grill every time before reheating with non-stick spray - usually Crisco olive oil spray- and it comes clean easily with no scraping. I have used it...

3.0 out of 5 stars Ok but may be better choices
After reading the reviews, I bought this one instead of a George Forman. I cooked 4 hamburgers on it with the lid down and they quickly overcooked. Also, it was more to cleanup than I anticipated.

I have used it nearly every day since purchase on hot dogs, brats, burgers, chicken breasts, pork chops, filet, eggplant, squash, onion slices, sandwiches, wraps - it is great. Once I figured out the optimum thickness - about 1/2 inch- both sides brown well with nice grill marks. I do usually preheat it for up to 10 minutes instead of 5. It is the best purchase I have made for busy working professionals on the run. I can put two servings of meat and some veggies on it for a complete healthy meal.

The food is yummy! Cleanup is a snap! I have not had to put the grills in the dishwasher yet - I just handwash them when they have cooled sufficiently to handle.

We Love it! Love it! Love it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Knocks Foremans Grill right out, January 20, 2007
This review is from: Hamilton Beach 25327 Indoor Grill with Removable Grids (Kitchen)
I have had 2 George Foreman grills (non removable grids) they were so hard to clean, took up so much room because of its shape including the lid, had to pull right to the edge of counter to clear cabinets above and that was a dangerous move because of drip pan (another poor design) but this Hamilton Beach is the best, it is square as is the lid, can lift it right up with ease, I line the drip pan (that is attached) with foil and clean up is a snap. Grids come out and go where you need them in the sink to clean with ease. I wanted to break out in song after my first clean up of this grill after having to clean 2 Foreman. I know George has removable grids now but the PRICE, WOW is a blow.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than comparable George Forman grills, January 4, 2007

I have had this grill for three months now and have to say it works (and can be cleaned) better than the three George Forman and an older Hamilton Beach grills that I have had the past five years. In particular, it gets a bit hotter (particularly relative to the variable heat HB grill) than the others and the non-stick surfaces on the two removable plates show no signs of wearing off after several months of heavy use. By comparison, the non-stick "teflon" surface on the others wore off in spots and became hard to clean after several months of use. A good buy!

This is my first grill of this type. It does a great job, does the food quickly and leaves nice grid marks on the food. It is super easy to clean up. The grids can go in the dishwasher but I found out that it is also very easy to clean with the scraper that was included with purchase. Then a quick wipe with a paper towel and it is ready to go again.

My one complaint against this grill is that the hinges do not open wide enough for some of the thicker foods I tried to grill.

This is the only grill I've ever had, so I guess I can't compare it to others, but for me this grill has been just great. It is super easy to use and clean. It has given me no problems at all. I recommend it.

If you have ever had to try to clean a George Foreman grill in your sink, this is the grill for you. I love this grill. It is so easy to use. I can place 3 frozen hamburgers on it and voila! in 6 minutes I have 3 fully cooked, juicy hamburgers. Then, for clean up I just remove the plates and clean up is a breeze. I have used this grill also with chicken strips, paninni sandwiches, french toast and my husband's favorite Monte Cristo Sandwiches. I am so glad I invested in this grill.

I just started weight watchers and use this every nite to grill my vegetables. They all come out great, except that onions get soft not crisp. The vegetables taste so good, that they are a meal. Also grilled shrimp and turkey burgers, no fat, great taste and grill cleans up in a second.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great little grill, April 27, 2007

I love this grill. So far it has worked out great. I love that you can remove the plates for easy clean up. It seems well designed and can be opened up flat to cook twice as much at one time. I use it almost every day.

I've had several Hamilton Beach products now and they have always worked great and lasted well.

August 2007 update. This grill is still working great. I still use it regularly. I use it to do grilled chicken, burgers, hot dogs, veggies, etc... it works great. The meat comes out moist and not dried out.

I love the timer because there is no forgetting to turn it off the grill. Once the time is up it turns its self off.

5.0 out of 5 stars Have had this grill over a year, and I love it!, June 16, 2007

I bought this at Target...and I fell in love! I even threw my George Foreman away because I knew that I would never use it again.

Why I love this grill:

1. Clean-up. Removable grids make clean up a snap. I wash mine by hand, with warm water.

2. It folds out when you want to cook larger portions, perfect for family meals.

3. Versatility. I made sandwiches on this, as well as meats, veggies, etc. Everything comes out perfectly. People have complained about the lack of adjustable temperature. I don't find that to be a problem. My unit came with an accurate guide on the front that tells you how long to cook certain foods.

4. Value. For the price, you really can't beat the perfect functions of this product. Like another reviewer, I have purchased Hamilton Beach products before and I love them.

I am really happy with this grill. I have used it for all kinds of meals. We've made grilled sandwiches, hot dogs, chicken breasts, and burgers on it. I like the fact that the grease tray sets into the grill, so it won't spill easily. I also like the fact that it cooks so quickly. If I'm cooking for a larger group, I can move a batch of food to a plate and cook the next batch before the first batch gets cold. I have been using a dish brush to remove any larger pieces that may be stuck to the plates (there usually isn't much), and then loading the plates into the dishwasher. It washes up great!
