Hi, I bought this grill because I was looking for one requiring minimal storage capacity. Not a lot of grill plates, compact, etc. This grills very well and I am pleased in that regard. However, it is supposed to close for upright storage, but the latch on the left side has already broken. The knob on the right side works (but if you crank it too much, the piece the knob is attached to starts to come off the handle) so the thing sort of closes....it's kind of half open on one side because of the latch. Disappointing since this is the main reason I bought this model, and for that reason I gave it two stars (and that is being generous).

I chose this product for the way the top grill fit so that when cooking items of thicker proportions it would adjust unlike those grills on a regular hinge.

I love this grill and use it all the time. It is compact, easy to store and with the removable disks, easy to clean. The only thing that it lacks which would be helpful is a timer. But for the money, it is well worth it!

For ten years I've used contact grills for cooking my meats. Foreman, Hamilton Beach "mealmaker", and an expensive Breville. All had non-removeable plates and all were fine, especially the mealmaker. This thing warmed up slowly and it was hard to figure cooking time because the preheat temperature was never the same. With most of the other grills I just skipped the preheat and then something like a half inch steak would be done in 6 minutes. Much as I don't like to admit failure - I couldn't keep the plates clean. With the other grills I just used a wet paper towel immediately and a second cleaning after cool down. Much easier. It does cook though; not all bad.

I purchased the Hamilton Beach 25451 as a replacement fro my George foreman grill. The George Foreman grill was clumsy and hard to clean. The 25451 works great and is easy to clean due to the grilling surfaces being removable, cleaning is a snap.

Our old panini press didn't have removeable plates, so we're thrilled with the Hamilton Beach Indoor Grill. We just toss them in the dishwasher and they're clean.

Pros: Heats up quickly, large cooking area, removable trays, floating hinge that locks in place

Cons: Seems very cheaply made, drip tray isn't big enough (overflowed cooking 5 or 6 hamburgers, 85/15 ground chuck) trays are not nearly as easy to clean as you would expect, only used 4 or 5 times and the non-stick coating is already starting to come off in several small places

Given that this particular model is relatively inexpensive I can't say it's all bad, but you get what you pay for. It does what it is supposed to do in most cases, but as soon as you cook with barbecue sauce (or any other liquid seasoning for that matter) you are going to have a mess on your hands. It only has one setting "FREAKIN HOT" and burns any sauce almost instantly, leaving a charred crust that you would swear has been applied to the trays with crazy glue.

If the coating lasts 6 months I'll be surprised and then I'll spend more on a foreman grill with temp control.

I am in love with this! We bought a foreman to replace an old one and when I was doing the prewash thing... the teflon began coming off... I took it back! This one has been holding up beautifully! I use it to make everything from pork chops to cheese burgers to roasted peppers! It is really easy to use! The only problem I had had is if you have something super juicy, like my hamburgers, sometimes the juices will run out the back of the unit, not a lot, but enough where you have to wipe the counter. My foreman was waaaaaay messier though!

I WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS PRODUCT. IT'S NOT WHAT THEY SAID. THE GRILL ITSELF IS ONLY 9X9 AND MIGHT MAKE 4 SMALL BURGERS IF LUCKY. THE MEASUREMENTS THEY GIVE 14X8X17 IS FOR THE BOX IT CAME IN. THE DESCRIPTION THEY GIVE FOR THIS GRILL IS VERY MISLEADING. I WILL BE MORE CAREFULL NEXT TIME I ORDER SOMETHING LIKE THIS.
