5.0 out of 5 stars It's so simple to use. But DO read the instructions!
Please take the negative reviews with a grain of salt. It's obvious that some of them are from people who don't like to read instructions. First, the indicator lights are NOT supposed to tell you when the waffle is finished. One light simply tells you the unit is receiving power (i.e., it's plugged in). The other light tells you when the iron is hot enough to pour in...

Please take the negative reviews with a grain of salt. It's obvious that some of them are from people who don't like to read instructions. First, the indicator lights are NOT supposed to tell you when the waffle is finished. One light simply tells you the unit is receiving power (i.e., it's plugged in). The other light tells you when the iron is hot enough to pour in the batter. The waffle is done in five minutes or when steam stops. All of that is in the instructions that come with the waffle maker. My waffles always come out golden brown.

You will have no problem with the batter sticking if you use the recipes for waffles, not pancakes. Waffle recipes include a small amount of cooking oil, which is needed to keep the waffles from sticking. Every box of mix I've ever purchased has alternate instructions for mixing waffle batter vs. pancake batter. Again, it's just a matter of reading the instructions. My waffles are easily removed from the waffle maker and NEVER stick.

I read the instructions and I get PERFECT waffles every time! I am DELIGHTED with my purchase!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent price performance for this waffler, December 1, 2003

This review is from: Hamilton Beach 26200 Restaurant Style Belgian Waffle Baker (Kitchen)
There are a lot of kinds of wafflers: Belgian (make thick square or round waffles), German-style (flat, sometimes heart-shaped) and standard American medium waffles. The Belgian style are popular as the deep wells hold a lot of syrup and butter, and they can be made crisp and light by adding whipped egg whites to the batter.

The amusingly-named "Flip 'n Fluff" is no fluffy small appliance. Compact in size, it makes two Belgian style waffles with the added feature of a two-sided design that allows one to turn it over after pouring the batter on the hot griddle. Very simple, very bright design. The flip allows the batter to develop the air pockets in the middle of the waffle, adding twice the height and fluffiness to the baked result. If you look at commercial wafflers in breakfast restaurants, they often employ this same flipping mechanism (usually on a swivel) to make a professionally light product.

At this price point, this waffler makes a great wedding gift, and it's nicely sized (no bigger than a popular type of sandwich and meat grill advertised by a prizefighter--you know the one I mean.) Thumbs up on this waffler, it's a winner.

5.0 out of 5 stars It Really Does Make the Best Waffles, February 23, 2002

The reason this waffle maker has all these rave reviews is because this waffle maker makes the very best waffles I've ever eaten outside of brunch at places like Pebble Beach or good hotels in downtown San Francisco.

The flip makes all the difference. Waffles from this iron resemble those made by a professional and taste light and fluffy. The first time you make waffles with this iron you won't believe the difference. You can see it immediately in the shape and height of the waffle and taste it in the texture.

This iron gets very hot of course and has the normal amount of steam. Since you handle the iron to flip it you need to be more careful that with an ordinary iron. That is the only drawback I can see to this iron.

The iron has clear and easy to use indicator lights and can be stored in an upright position to save space.

The non stick surface is easy to clean and waffles are easily removed from the iron.

I am very pleased with this iron. I have to give it a five star rating. I could not be happier. The fact that the iron lists cheaper than many other models and is actually reduced significantly in price by Amazon is an added bonus. Sadly in life the good stuff normally costs more but not in this case.

At first it seemed odd to me that people would give a waffle iron as a present but after using it once I understood how someone could give this as a gift.

I purchased my Hamilton Beach waffle maker primarily for my son. I was replacing my waffle iron with one that lasted barely a year, and was trying to be very particular this time around. I was looking for quality. From the first time that I used my Hamilton Beach, I fell in love with it! The waffles are always perfect - slightly crunchy on the outside and so soft in the middle. Clean up is so easy that I even make waffles for him on school days. The fact that it only takes a couple of minutes to warm up is a plus for me because we always seem to be in a hurry or running late on school days. I can't recommend this waffle iron enough, and for the price, you can't beat it!

5.0 out of 5 stars I could not believe it, March 17, 2002

The waffles were outstanding. Basically, all of the claims in the editorial reviews were all of that and more. The waffles were very light. Once you become accustomed to the type of waffle you prefer, crispy or soft, then it is cake :-)) from then on. It cooks a lot quicker than I expected. I found that five minutes of baking time makes a crispy waffle, and three minutes makes a softer waffle. The new process to be learned is the flip. Be careful of the flip, as warned in the instructions, because of the escaping steam. Do wear an oven glove. And clean up is extremely easy. I just wish that the cooking grids were removable.
I absolutely love it and have been thoroughly impressed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Only waffle lover in the family ..., April 17, 2003
This review is from: Hamilton Beach 26200 Restaurant Style Belgian Waffle Baker (Kitchen)
has finally figured it out.

I make the standard waffle recipe in the booklet that comes with (no mixes - start from scratch) AND add a handful dried cranberries. Then since I can only eat two waffles at a time, I freeze the other six in three packets of two waffles each.

To prepare the frozen waffles, microwave the two stuck together waffles for 30 sec (on high), separate and microwave for another 30 sec. Then put them in the toaster until slightly crispy.

Sometimes I eat them like plain toast on the way to golf, or I may eat with butter and syrup in the normal fashion. Yummy !!

I have another Belgian waffle maker at the cabin (different make), and it does OK. But the Hamilton Beach 26200 Flip 'n Fluff Belgian Waffle Baker is the best. Easy to use, easy to clean, and makes terrific waffles.

Enjoy.

When I got it, this waffle iron made the best waffles I have ever had. Then it stopped working: the safety electrical outlet in my kitchen kept clicking off. Being a little handy, I opened up the waffle iron, and found that the electrical cord had been smashed up against the metal cooking plate by a screw, thanks to careless design and/or careless assembly. The wire's insulation had been smashed open, and the copper inside the wire was actually touching the metal of the waffle iron. If I didn't have safety outlets, I could have received an electric shock when using the product. The product was dangerously defective. Despite the awesome waffles, I cannot recommend you buy this product due to the poor safety level. The manufacturer should redesign the product's insides to prevent this kind of assembly error.

I bought my husband the "Flip & Fluff" for an X'mas present. It was a great price and we needed a new waffle iron. I have to admit that I thought it sounded like a gimmick at first. Flip your waffle iron over??? Come on! But ya know, we made about 6 batches of waffles over our 2 week vacation and every single batch came out perfect. We used the included recipe booklet a few times and our own waffle recipes the other few times. All came out wonderful! We added oatmeal one time, another time we added chocolate chips and still another time we added blueberries. They all came out yummy! We did not have to spray the iron grid at all - the waffles never stuck. I highly recommend this waffle iron. We love it.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Belgian Waffle Maker, February 24, 2006

I bought my daughter one of these for Christmas and it was difficult to make a decision because there are so many out there but this said Belgian waffle maker which was what she wanted and it made the right size waffles, not too big and not too small. She loved it and so I decided to buy one for myself. She was right. It absolutely makes the best waffles I have ever eaten. The are big with deep pockets and they are so fluffy and light. So far this purchase has been well worth the money. I love it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazingly Fluffy Waffles, November 20, 2005
This review is from: Hamilton Beach 26200 Restaurant Style Belgian Waffle Baker (Kitchen)
Breakfast has always been my favorite meal of the day and one that I could eat at every meal. I usually relied on cold cereals to propel me through the day, but was introduced to a waffle iron at my college and fell in love with Belgian waffles. I decided I needed to invest in one of my own, and picked out the Hamilton Beach Flip N Fluff due to its five-star reviews.

I tried the Flip N Fluff on the same night it was delivered. I used Aunt Jemima's Whole Wheat Pancake Mix, threw in a handful of frozen blueberries, and poured a half a cup on each griddle after the green light told me the waffle maker was ready for the batter. I waited exactly five minutes, opened it up, and had two golden brown, fluffy waffles. It was delicious and much better than those compact frozen Eggos.

Since then, I've experimented with different homemade batters: buttermilk, lemon poppyseed, pumpkin & cinnamon (for a seasonal treat), harvest grain and nut, and chocolate. It's been a real pleasure trying different flavors and making waffles for family and friends, who are impressed and ready to ditch their store-bought waffles and invest in a Flip N' Fluff.

Overall, the Hamilton Beach has worked time and time again; I've already made at least 100 waffles with it. For a breakfast aficionado such as myself, your kitchen wouldn't be complete with a waffle iron of such good quality.
