I actually have this exact version crock pot but in the 6qt. capacity, which Amazon didn't have listed. (Got it on sale for $34 - originally $50 - at a department store.)

It's great for all the reasons a crock pot are great: fix it and forget it convenience

This crock pot has a "Keep Warm" setting which was a feature I didn't have on my old one, and is very nice. I like the chrome/black accents which fits in with most modern kitchens. The see-through glass lid was an important feature for me...I don't know why. I know it's not necessary to see the food cooking, but I like to.

Another thing that I like about this modern crock pot is that it is NOT digital like some newer models. I thought a digital setting could easily break and garner my crockpot useless so I wanted the tried and true turn knob, which serves my purposes well.

This one also has the removable "pot" which is convenient for cleaning or storing in the refrigerator (assuming the fridge is big enough!).

I also opted for the oval shape this time around in the event that I should ever do a full roast (I used to have to cut mine in half with my old crock pot) or a whole chicken. And the 6 quart capacity is spectacular. The downside to it is that I feel I need to double my recipes to use all the space I have, thus leaving a lot of leftovers. This can be both a pro and a con. If you end up with a 6qt. you may want a smaller 3 or 4 qt. as well.

I bought this to make small meals that required minimal effort and it has been more than adequate. Probably won't feed a family of 4 but works great for 2-3 people.

Bought this slow cooker to replace a 3.5 quart I had been using. Iwas amazed how much more it holds without taking up extra storage. Cooks well & can walk away without worry.

Heats quickly, and it actually keeps food warm! This is my third slow cooker, and it is the best! I purchased this one because the other two did not meet my needs. Both took too long to heat!

When I wanted to upgrade to a large size slow cooker the Hamilton Beach was my first choice, largely owing to its reasonably inexpensive price and the simplicity of operation. Some of the selling points were the lid with a good gasket seal and the removable strap which can be used for transportation and storage. The five quart capacity is a nice balance between some of the larger and smaller slow cookers as well, especially since my largest complaint with my previous one was its small capacity.

After five years I've yet to have any complaints about its durability or service. One of the selling points for me was the simple settings (Off, Keep Warm, Low, and High) versus those of more advanced slow cookers. Granted, you want to learn carefully what each setting is capable of before you leave your slow cooker unattended, lest something unexpected happen. As I've learned, the High setting on this cooker really is high, the Keep Warm does just that, and Low is not to be used unless you're hanging around and keeping an eye on it! The ceramic insert is removable and makes for an easy cleanup and good overall durability. The metal unit, despite its flimsy appearance, holds up pretty good and does a more than adequate job, heating up quickly and generally doing what it should..

There are some obvious limitations to this slow cooker. There is no programmable timer, so if you're leaving home you're best to set it to Keep Warm and let it do its thing. It would be nice to have an automatic shutoff just in case things go awry, but at this price point that's probably asking too much. If you're looking for a good slow cooker at a reasonable price point this is a very good one to start with!

Looks nice in kitchen.I like the oval shape. It works great and is perfect for my small family
I would caution those who have small children because the outside of the slow cooker gets hot to the touch.

I have only owned Rival Crockpots over the years. Three to be exact. The first 2 had broken lids that couldn't be replaced and the last one they changed the design and all it did was burn whatever was cooking in it. I read reviews for multiple Hamilton Beach Slow Cookers and decided on this one being that it was a good size for a great price. OMG, it cooks perfectly. I have made many things in it and nothing has come close to being overdone. In fact the pork roast I did today turned out perfect after cooking on low for 8 hours. If I would have left it in my old Rival Crockpot for that long, the entire bottom of the roast would have been scorched and it would have been dry. If you are on the fence don't hesitate. I will never buy another Rival Crockpot again! Great product Hamilton Beach!!

Works fine. Placed it on a thin plastic cutting board. Melted two beautiful holes in the cutting board. No harm to counter, but close. Two stove bolts stick out of the bottom. Called Hamilton Beach and was told you always put a wooden cutting board under pot. First one I have had that didn't sit on counter. My husband will cut the bolts off. Might be all are this way or just a few, but check yours out.
