This model holds up to eight cups of oil, with a minimum of six to run it, and features such pluses like a dishwasher safe nonstick pot, cool touch exterior, adjustable thermostat, cooking timer, breakaway cord, well-designed fry basket, and states it provides splatter free frying.

Upon the initial use (to make fried chicken), after filling the tank with oil then waiting roughly twelve minutes for it to register as being "Ready to Cook" by the indicator light, I then dropped in the first batch of (battered) raw chicken and twenty minutes later, out came some very nice, golden brown fried chicken.

Continuing on to fry the remaining six batches (six legs and six large boneless/skinless pieces), the cooking time continued to be consistent throughout for obtaining a good internal temperature of 180 degrees (for cooked bone-in chicken).

However, the true test of this kind of product is also it's clean-ability, so once the unit cooled, the interior metal pot was lifted out with no trouble (for it was light enough to not only remove but to pour out the contents without a struggle) and cleaned up in a snap.

After removing the lid (it is detachable), it cleaned right up with soapy water-no problems. The white filter cleans in soapy water as well. After wiping down the main assembly and drying all the parts, reassembly was a breeze.

One note: There is still some odor with this product, but as with any kind of frying/fryer, that is to be expected to some degree so just don't expect it not to emit anything odorwise even thought it has filters.

Overall impression: Pleased with it's performance, ease of use, and of course, simplicity in cleaning. Like the way the lid can be shut before lowering the basket to limit splattering.

While it does take 15 mins to heat the oil I find this more of a safety feature than an inconvenience. I have used my fryer at least 2 times a week since I purchased it and love it so much I ordered another one to give my sister for CHristmas. My husband is very pleased with this purchase also........I highly reccomend it to others

We have had this fryer for about 6 weeks now and have used it multiple times (mostly my husband). We have not experienced any problems with it and do not anticipate any although we haven't yet had to deal with changing the oil. I read the reviews for many different fryers before deciding on this one and am very pleased with it and the price.

it works great, you can cook a large amount of food fast. The oil heats up quickly. The only problem I had was the plug, since it is magnetic and doesn't push in and lock in. If you bump it, the magnetic connection breaks and no connection no power, and you may not realize it right away. Other than that it is great

This Hamilton Beach FRyer is the greatest. Very little steam while frying, mantains temperture while frying several loads of food. Loved it so much, I also bought one for my sister! Very satisfied with this fryer. We've done fries, chicken wings, and even made hush puppies and a few other things, and everything comes out great. The magnetic electrical plug is also very safety driven, but can easily be jostled out of position, so once you have it plugged in and warming up, don't try to move the cable.

I bought this fryer to replace an existing fryer that was too big for us. With my old fryer, we had to use close to 4 Liters!! of oil in order to fill up to the miniumum. I was looking for a medium capacity fryer to use in the house and came across a 'roto' fryer that I also bought off this site for about 100 dollars and I wasnt impressed. So I returned that one and bought this one hoping this would be the one and it is great so far. Takes about 2 Liters of oil to fill to the max. Basket holds a good deal of food. The window allows you to see the food as its cooking and it was very nice to be able to lift the basket up without opening the unit to view through the window. The other one I returned had a window too but I thought it was pointless because it condensed up and I couldnt see a thing. Also, I was very pleased with the even cooking and crispiness of the food that came out with this unit. Easy to use and very easy to clean as well. The plug is magnetic and easily pulls off and disconnects but the manual said it was a safety feature so I'm not going to complain about it. Just be careful not to touch it so it doesnt disconnect. Dont let the price fool you...just because its half the price of other competitive units. Its built very well and like I said...works much better then the one I returned for double the price. I am very pleased with this unit and cant wait to use it again!

This is our 3rd large deep fryer. The first one (I forget the brand) did not last long at all. The second one was a Black & Decker which lasted about 3 years and we could not find another one when it started going. I bought this one to replace it and we LOVE it. Heats up FAST, does a great job and it really does stay cool on the outside which is a nice plus. The price is really good too.

This is a great fryer for the price. I would have given it a 5 star rating if the basket was a touch bigger and a touch stronger. If you get to rough with the basket, the handle folds over and if you aren't paying attention you make a mess. I feed 5 or 6 people at a time which makes me have to do 2 baskets full to get everyone a serving to start. Other than that I really like the removable/washable tub so I empty it, store my strained oil in the frig for the next time and put everything away and don't have to worry about a messy clean up or the oil going ransid from sitting in the fryer between uses.

This unit is awesome....I use it all of the time. Come up with excuses just so I can use it. So much nicer to use than trying to deep fry in a pot on the stove. I Love This thing! I had an oil fire previously on the stove, so the wife said "No More Deep Frying on the stove". Bought this, great deal too!
