This stylish and cute toaster worked right out of the box, looks great on the kitchen countertop, and gets my toast to the perfect shade without any issues. I recommend this toaster to anyone who needs a four-slot toaster that also does bagels and has an extra-wide slot to fit texas toast or waffles. I recommend this toaster, so you should get one today.

We bought this when our Sunbeam toaster (white plastic, ugly) bit the dust, so to speak. Purchased it based on Consumers Reports ratings, and of course, the great reviews here on Amazon. It is great-looking, and easy to use. It works well, and yes, it can leave some streaks on the bread, depending on the darkness you choose. But it doesn't make a difference to us....I guess we're not toast connoisseurs. It has some nice features for bagels and defrosting, which we don't use that often. The slots are wide and we can fit some large slices of bread easily into the toaster horizontally, not placing the bread upright. So the whole slice gets toasted.

Toasters are not a particularly exciting purchase, but who doesn't need one? Prior to my purchase, I looked at every one on Amazon in my price range ($75/$65 or less) and saw that not one had a 100% approval, and many had scathing reviews about their inability to do the one job they're designed to do in a satisfactory way. Apparently, everybody has an opinion about toasters and what they're looking for, and no one toaster can be all things to all people.

I would think toasting toast (bagels, waffles) is a pretty straight forward objective and that the technology to do such a simple job would be no great task; however, maybe it's more complicated than it sounds, and a stellar toaster worthy of glowing, 5-star reviews is gonna run absurdly big bucks requiring a 12-to-18-month obligation to finance the purchase (at 0% interest, of course). I myself cannot attest that I'm horribly picky about toasted toast, not as much as many other reviewers anyway who had various complaints like the toaster they purchased didn't toast evenly enough, or the toast didn't pop up high enough, issues that annoyed them immensely and left them dissatisfied with their purchase. Yes, I do like toast consistently brown and with a crusty, firm texture on both sides. It's desirable too that the toast pop up warm enough to melt refrigerated margarine. And a BLT is not nearly as delicious without a couple of pieces of crisp toast to hold it together, so a good piece of toast is indeed one of life's little pleasures like a warm shower and a hot cup of coffee. And sure, being able to remove toast from a toaster without burning my fingers is desirable and not too much to ask, I suppose. But what more do I need from a toaster? How about one that lasts for more than a few years? What else? That's about it.

This is the best toaster that I have used or purchased. It cooks quick and even. Does not leave fingerprints. I do recommend this item.

I looked at toasters for about a month and a half before I decided on this one. Most seem to be over priced with similar features, but not this one. Not a whole lot to say other than, it came quickly, was well packaged, looks nice, it has the features I was looking for and it works great. It doesn't take up too much space on my counter either. Love the bagel setting and the little bread crumb drawers on the bottom help for easy cleanup too. Buy it, you'll like it!

I bought this model after reading glowing reviews. Have to say that it looked great on the counter. Our three trials at making toast were a total failure. One side browned, other side not. Could not adjust for even browning. It was not as good as the toaster I threw in garbage when this one arrived. Wish I had held off on that move. Well we shipped it back and ordered a Cuisinart CPT-170 that seems to be highly rated. We are using the oven broiler until that arrives. I thought it strange that my toaster didn't have any product pamphlet in the box. It almost seems that a returned toaster was shipped to us as new. I hope it doesn't go out to the next person for the three strike test. Anyway, I'm happy for those who are happy with the Hamilton Beach, just didn't work for me.

This piece of junk impresses - for the first couple of months.

Then the cheap plastic handles and knobs start snapping and breaking off. All of them. Definitely a problem with the plastics production.

The really fun part is contacting Hamilton Beach Co. 15 minute wait to speak to their customer service morons. These backwater chimps they have on the phone sound like the guy who works his last day at the DMV - they hate you, they hate life, and they want to make sure you know it.

Oh yeah, you've got to pay $14 to have your replacement toaster shipped to you.

THAT should tell you everything you need to know about this company - they expect their crap to break and they will make you pay to replace it.

And they must have never heard of the internet - their crappiness is bound to become well known.

This toaster is consistently reliable, and easy to use. It does the one sided thing so it doesn't burn the tops of your bagels, and when toasting smaller things like English muffins, the handle lifts up high enough you don't burn your fingers trying to pick them out. The 4 slice model is quite large, so it takes up a lot of counter space if that's an issue. Definitely recommend this toaster, for the price it is excellent!
