5.0 out of 5 stars The hottest kettle on the market
Just boil and go! Being cordless, this kettle has been a great addition to my home (and even office on occasion). I just heat it up on its power base, then lift it off and take it with me wherever I go. Whether I'm in my study or even outside on the deck, I always have a hot and steaming cup of water ready to pour. And with its two-sided water window, I always know well...

1.0 out of 5 stars Watch Out
Item does not shut off when the kettle is on and there is no water in the chamber! Instead of failing safely, Instructions for Use describe that the heating element oscillates between extremely hot to a period of cooling down, and then a return to a very hot state. This oscillation apparently goes on indefinitely. Once this happens, the intructions indicate your product...

I just heat it up on its power base, then lift it off and take it with me wherever I go. Whether I'm in my study or even outside on the deck, I always have a hot and steaming cup of water ready to pour. And with its two-sided water window, I always know well ahead of time when it needs a refill. But best of all, inside, the heating element is under a flat stainless steel bottom, so when you do want to clean for some reason (although it almost never gets dirty), it's a breeze!

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Fabulous for my Office!, July 18, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Hamilton Beach 45351 Automatic Electric Kettle (Kitchen)
In first consideration of purchasing a kettle for my office I found myself remembering unfavorable experiences with "hot pots" during my collegiate days. My how things have changed! This kettle is incredible! So convenient and worry free! One of the nicest features is that it doesn't require close attention. When the water boils, it shuts off automatically. The handle stays cool so there isn't a chance of being burned. The pouring is easy since there isn't an entangling cord. And it holds up to 10 cups of water. I highly recommend it!

5.0 out of 5 stars I Love this Kettle, July 7, 2002

My husband had wanted a water kettle for years now and I never got around to purchasing one since most of the models I see (the push button to dispense water types) were so pricey. Then I see this kettle on the Amazon "gold box" special =) I read the other reviews and decided to give it a shot. We LOVE this kettle! The fact that it is mobile and cordless is a TERRIFIC idea. It boils 10 cups of water in about 2.5 minutes or so and has an auto shut-off so you don't have to worry about forgetting. I've read some of the other reviews about the cover being a bit hard to get off but we don't have a problem with that. You just have to pull it back towards you and up and it comes right off.

5.0 out of 5 stars great kettle, tuff lid, December 11, 2000

i love this kettle for 2 reasons: it's cordless & it has auto-shut-off. it's drawback: the lid is quite difficult to remove. here's why: the previous model featured a loose fitting lid, which allowed the steam to escape near the top of the handle and burn your hand. the solution: since it's cordless, i leave the lid on and fill it thru the spout, at the faucet. once a week, i remove the lid with a squeeze to clean it. i still love this unit. its cost, by far, outweighs the cost of several burnt kettles.

5.0 out of 5 stars the best thing since the coffe maker, December 2, 2000

i absolutely love this kettle. it makes getting ready in the mornings so much easier now that i don't have to worry about the water boiling out of the pot or leaving the pot on the stove while i shower or plan my wardrobe. i just turn it on, take care of my business, and when i'm done, i have hot water waiting for me. and if i should forget about it, it's okay because it automatically shuts itself off. that's very comforting. i definitely recommend this kettle to anyone who has busy mornings or who has children, as children can sometimes be distracting and can cause you to forget things, such as boiling water on the stove.

4.0 out of 5 stars good buy, October 21, 2000

The water heats really quickly. Having the cord attached to the base and not the pot itself is really convenient. My only complaint is that the lid is kind of hard to get off. I always have to struggle with it for several seconds before it pops off. I assume it was designed that way as a safety precaution so that the lid doesn't come off while pouring. But every time I pull the lid off, the water condensation from inside the lid and the walls of the pot goes flying all over me. But that's really only a minor inconvenience.

Kettle heats up very quickly and I love the cordless portability. I have also found that the kettle is easy to clean and I highly recommend it to other tea and cup of soup addicts!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Product, May 26, 2001
By
This review is from: Hamilton Beach 45351 Automatic Electric Kettle (Kitchen)
I purchased this to replace a west bend electric kettle. I have used this product every morning since I received it without complaint. It works great. The cordless feature is a great feature, take it where you need it once the water is hot. It brings 1.75 liters, about 10 cups of water, to a boil in about 6 minutes. Fill it with water, set it and go do something else, when you come back hot water. If you forget to come back, no problem, the unit turns itself off so there is no danger of boiling dry. It has clear, easy to see water level indicators on both sides of the unit. The lid thing others mentioned isn't that big of a deal. The lid stays on and when you want to remove it pull from the handle side up and it comes off. Overall, a great product. If you are looking for something that works like it is supposed to, then you won't go wroung with this product.

This product works exactly as described. The lid is actually
very easy to get on and off. It just clicks into place. It
has to click into place in order for the automatic shutoff to work. It heats a full pot in about five or maybe six minutes.
A previous reviewer complained that it wasn't as speedy as the one she used in Britain. The reason for that is not the quality of the pot. It is that Britain uses a different standard electrical system (240 volts--I think) than the U.S. uses (120 volts). Naturally the British version would heat faster. Unfortunately, a European pot would not work too well on 120 volts in the U.S. I have also used the European versions of these pots while travelling in Europe and the difference is minute. It is a product that is a pleasure to use.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beats Krups and Braun hands down, October 30, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Hamilton Beach 45351 Automatic Electric Kettle (Kitchen)
Having gone through burnt receptacles on Krups and considering a tiny Braun I can say that this kettle is an absolute winner. Just about for half the price of German "marvels" you can have a LARGE kettle with a 360 degree positioning and a receptacle design (which is the weakest link in all German kettles) that is well protected from mosture and is round (as opposed to thin blades and flimsy springed latches of the German kettles). My wife boils at least three kettle-fuls a day. This kettle has been holding on tough since early this year. This kettle is a must for all tea lovers.
