5.0 out of 5 stars Every feature for a great cup of coffee
After discovering (with great shock) what can start to "brew" in the moist dark water tanks of most coffee makers, I was on a mission to find one with a removable tank that could be cleaned and sterilized. After looking in the range from $70 tp $200+ I found this little gem. It brews each cup in less then a minute. A full pot brews in about 7 minutes. Great...

Makes a full 12 cups of hot coffee when not using the removable water tray. With the water tray it made only 8 cups. Water filter is not inline but floats in the water tank. Makes a great 12 cups of coffee and the timer/clock is easy to set with a 2-hour auto shutoff. Broke glass coffee carafe the 1st week and found replacements at Target.

The filter basket removes for dumping and washing. You can also purchase little purhana water filters to take out any added chlorine. It is a great coffee maker and one I can feel safe drinking from!

5.0 out of 5 stars Everything you could possibly want..., July 4, 2000

Tad Smith (Manchester, PA) - See all my reviews
This coffee machine offers by far the most bang for your buck! You will be hard pressed to find another machine that includes auto shutoff, a timer, and pause-n-serve capabilities for under $40. Consumer reports came to the conclusion that most coffee machines brew coffee to the same taste and quality, so what you are really purchasing (above a cheap $12 coffee maker) is the extra features. And this machine has the best ones, you'll be very satisfied!

5.0 out of 5 stars As good as it gets., June 3, 2000
This review is from: Hamilton Beach 49294 12-Cup Aroma Express Coffeemaker, Black (Kitchen)
This coffee maker does everthing that I was looking for - small footprint removable reservoir, dishwasher-safe, removable filter holder, and automatic timer. But best of all it brews a great cup of coffee! What more could you want?

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Smart Design., July 17, 2002

This review is from: Hamilton Beach 49294 12-Cup Aroma Express Coffeemaker, Black (Kitchen)
Just got it a week ago, love it.

Here is the deal:

1) The top flips up and inside is a 12 cup bin (with measurement lines on it) that you pull out with a handle, fill it up in the sink, so you do not need to fill the pot, then pour it in the coffee maker to get an accurate measurement. So many coffee makers seem to have two differ measurements between the bin and the coffee pot, if they have a removable bin at all.

2) The coffee receptacle itself pops out so you can fill it separately as well and place it in the holder.

3) Not only is this more convenient, but the bin that comes out for filling the water can be cleaned, i.e. after three months of use you do not have to wonder what crawled inside of the coffee maker because the bin is removable, semi clear, sealed, and cleanable.

4) The coffee pot itself I love, my wife is always on me for not being able to pour a cup of coffee without spilling half of it. :-) This pot has a heavily beveled pour spout, so you cannot spill it if you tried, if you manage to spill it, it may be a sign that you have had far too much coffee. ;-)

Very Smart Design.

Other:
Brew Time is average to fast; Looks are of average quality, has 2 hour auto off, has a wake up timer, has auto stop and pour feature.

Negative:
I do not take any points away for this. It is top removable, so you will not be able to place the coffee maker under any cabinets in the kitchen. If you have limited counter space this may be a negative, you will have to pull the coffee maker forward/away from the cabinet to get access to the top removable bin.

I always dread cleaning coffeemakers. This one comes with a removable water reservoir - easy to clean ! Has the same features as more expensive models, but works just as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great cup of coffee!, November 2, 2001

I was more than satisfied with this coffee maker. Yes, it only brews 10 cups with the removal water resevoir, but a wonderful 10 cups it is. The programming was incredibly simple, and it's features are all they promised. Great coffee maker for a GREAT price, worth the purchase.

1.0 out of 5 stars Something was overlooked!, September 9, 2000
By
"bokim" (Rocklin, CA USA) - See all my reviews
Before making my purchase I read other customer reviews and decided this was a good choice. Was I the only one that did not appreciate the fact that my 12 cup coffee maker water reservoir only had the capacity to hold 9 cups? Does this make any sense? Not to me. When I ordered a 12 cup coffee maker I expect to be able to brew 12 cups. Unhappy to say the least.
