4.0 out of 5 stars Nice! Good purchase. Use it a lot!
I read the reviews on this and decided to try it. My other 2 blenders just died ugly deaths and I was reluctant to buy another one. I thought I didn't really need it as I don't use them very often. I started reading about the smoothies people are making and the adult beverages that turned out so well, so I took the bait and purchased it. I'm glad I did. I am making...

2.0 out of 5 stars POOR PERFORMANCE
I bought this at WalMart for $18.94. The old saying, "you get what you pay for" is true with this model. The spout and the fact that the box showed how easily it would be to make crushed ice drinks and to NOT have to use a spoon to push the items down into the blade was great selling points; however after just two times of making simple milkshakes, I am returning this...

I am making smoothies and milkshakes more often and truly enjoying it.

I would have given this item 5 stars but 2 things worried me. First is the noise. I realize that with the speed and power this little machine has it will be noisy. A small price to pay for such a nice machine. Second is the spigot seems flimsy. I'm trying to coddle it so it won't break. It might be stronger than I think, but it just feels weak.

When the drink you make is thick you need to turn on the dispense feature, come to fine out the thickness is thinner than expected. It's difficult to pour through the spigot no matter what the consistancy - unless it's quite watery. It doesn't take up much room on my counter - a feature I now keep because I use it that often.

All in all I think you'll be happy with this blender! Good price.

I bought this at WalMart for $18.94. The old saying, "you get what you pay for" is true with this model. The spout and the fact that the box showed how easily it would be to make crushed ice drinks and to NOT have to use a spoon to push the items down into the blade was great selling points; however after just two times of making simple milkshakes, I am returning this to the store and getting a kitchen aid, or other more powerful unit. It is very loud and it would only liquify the ice cream (with milk added) with prodding...and a wooden spoon forcing it down. It took way too long. I haven't been able to use the spout as the milkshakes must have been too thick, although my kids had no problem using a staw, so it wasn't that thick.

Another drawback is that the cord is way too short. You have to be pretty close to the outlet which was not convenient. A few more inches would have been nice.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not A Heavy Duty Blender, January 30, 2010
By

I purchased this blender at a Walmart. My teenage daughter loves smoothies and finds this blender easy to use and easy to clean. I have attempted several frozen drinks, but the ice (from my refrigerator freezer) is never crushed completely. It could be that the ice cubes are too firm and large, because I have an older model refrigerator. Many newer model refrigerators have a crushed ice feature which is probably easier to use in a blender. On the other hand, it blends frozen fruit fairly well and quickly. The dispenser is handy, I like that feature. Still, I will probably take this blender back and purchase a more heavy duty model that can crush ice better.

4.0 out of 5 stars Functional but can't give it 5 stars, October 18, 2009

I received this blender as a gift and use it all the time to make frozen drinks. It works really well for the most part and the spout is great. However the spout always seems to clog up with ice and you end of having to pour it like a normal blender.

I own three of these blenders and they're like nothing I've ever used before. The blades make some kind of vortex which mixes and moves everything around so that it all gets blended smoothly (no ice chunks). It is loud, but seems plenty powerful. It's the only blender I've ever used that I haven't had to get out the long spoon and push and move chunks around to get it mixed properly. I haven't tried to make a thick milkshake with it, so I can't vouch for that, but if you're looking for something to make your own slurpees, you'll love this!

I FOUND MINE AT THE LOCAL DOLLAR GENERAL STORE. COULDN'T CRUSH ICE WITH MY STANDARD BLENDER TO MAKE MARGARITAS, AND HAPPENED ONTO THIS. SAID IT COULD CRUSH ICE AND IT DOES! TWO SETS OF STEEL BLADES ARE VERTICAL AND HORIZONTAL, ALLOWING FOR EASY CRUSHING AND ROTATION OF THE ICE, IT KEEPS THINGS MOVING AND WON'T JAM. I'VE ENJOYED MAKING MARGARITAS FOR MYSELF, AND THE KIDS WENT CRAZY OVER THE SMOOTHIES I MADE WITH IT. WITH ALL INGREDIENTS AT THE READY, I MADE A PITCHER OF MARGARITAS IN LESS THAN A MINUTE! IT'S EASY TO CLEAN AND IS ATTRACTIVE AND WELL MADE. I LOVE THE SPIGOT FEATURE, IT PROVIDES EASY DISPENSING AND THE LARGE PITCHER HOLDS A LOT OF DRINK. TOSS IN SOME FRUIT, FRUIT JUICE AND VEGGIES AND MAKE YOUR OWN HEALTH DRINKS!OR ADD MILK, ICE CREAM AND SYRUP FOR A THICK SHAKE. COULD PROBABLY EVEN MAKE SLUSHIES WITH THE PROPER SYRUPS. NO ICE CHUNKS,JUST SMOOTH SLUSH! I'VE BEEN LUCKY WITH MY WAVE, AND I'M BUYING SEVERAL FOR MY OLDER KIDS FOR CHRISTMAS GIFTS.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great little Margarita maker, September 8, 2008
This review is from: Hamilton Beach 54614 Wavestation Express Dispensing Blender with 48-Ounce Jar, White (Kitchen)
I bought this at an end of summer sale blow out ...really cheap but must say so far so good! Makes better frozen drinks than our Oster which was about 3 times the price of this. This totally crushes ice cubes and makes the beverages nice and slushy. Although, dispensing can be tricky. When the liquids are very thick the blender must be on in the dispense mode to get it to come out and sometimes there's dripping but a little cup under the dispenser solves that easily.
Over all very happy! It's MUCH smaller and CHEAPER than the "Margarators" & "Margaritavilles" that came out recently. Those are definitely over kill unless you own an actual bar.
This was a great buy for us!

2.0 out of 5 stars Will not make smoothies, March 30, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Hamilton Beach 54614 Wavestation Express Dispensing Blender with 48-Ounce Jar, White (Kitchen)
We purchased this unit hoping to be able to make frozen smoothies. It is totally inadequate for this task. We followed the very limited instructions to the letter with no success. The fuit that was already in an almost slushy state just stuck to the sides and the blades could not pull the fruit mixture down to blend it. We wnet back to our very old food processor and will continue to use that until it finally packs it in. Do not buy this unit if you want to make any sort of slushy drink!

Pay a little more and get a better appliance.
I have used this appliance a few times and it continues to leak due to bad seal.

1.0 out of 5 stars Can I give it a ZERO????, May 30, 2010
This review is from: Hamilton Beach 54614 Wavestation Express Dispensing Blender with 48-Ounce Jar, White (Kitchen)
I just bought this last night at Wal-Mart for $17.00. I saw the good reviews and decided to give it a try. Wal-Mart has a huge display of them in all different colors. I bought the green one. I guess because summer has just began. It has a big sticker that asks if you are tired of ice chunks. Well, will my more expensive Hamilton Beach I have ice crushing issues. I thought the wave action would help the ice rotate. Well, this is the worst blender ever! It did not crush the ice at all! It did not crush frozen strawberries either. It wouldn't even mash a banana. The dispensing system did not even let a drop out. Obviously the company just wanted to stick a blender in Wal-Mart and hope that people would not return it because of the hassle. I am off to return this one and search for one that actually crushes ice.
