Product Description

Whip and mix with this easy to use and powerful hand blender with 2 attachments

Amazon.com

With the 200-watt Hamilton Beach hand-held blender, there’s no need to get out a heavy mixer and bowl. Drinks can be blended right in the glass, soups pureed in the pot, and cream whipped in a portable bowl. Great for quickly blending small amounts and perfect for vacation-home use, the blender comes with two attachments: an 8-1/2-inch sharp-bladed blending wand with a protective plastic sleeve, and a 7-1/4-inch stainless-steel whisk. Both attachments twist securely onto the power handle and easily remove for hand washing. On the end of the power handle a two-speed button gives the option of low or high speed, and a five-foot cord provides good reach. A one-year warranty covers the hand blender against defects. --Ann Bieri

Horrible, bought first one, lo/hi buttons quit working in first week, replaced, second one the buttons quit working after 3 months (actually used very little).

You have to hold the blender in both hands as you jam your finger down as hard as possible to active the button.

I've had several hand blenders-it's a "thing" with me :) I started out with a hand-me-down from my Grandmother and after years of use basically wore it out. I've been looking for a good replacement and ended up trying a Braun and a Cuisinart. For all the power and attachments I still didn't like the Braun. The Cuisinart (Quick Prep) was loud, heavy/bulky and didn't seem to have much power. Here's what I like about this Hamilton Beach one:

-Manual says not to use it to blend ice but I do anyway and it does a great job of it

-I like the blade housing. The blade sits low so you can blend a tiny amount of anything (with other models you'd have to have a larger amount of food so that the blade can make contact). Also, with the openings around the housing of the blade less food gets stuck to it (when I used my braun half the food I blended ended up on the blender and when you're only doing 1/4 cup of something that's a problem). Also, the openings on the housing help to whip in air- important when you're doing drinks and shakes. The Braun also lacks in this area.

-I like that the bottom can be removed for cleaning (eventhough it can not be put in the dishwasher it's okay because when I'd put the shaft of the Braun in the dishwasher it would come out 1/2 filled with gross dishwasher water which defeated the purpose).

-I like the shape of the blade. The braun had 2 pointy blades where this one is more of an off set S shaped blade and it does a better job especially for frozen fruit, etc.

-At about 200 watts it's plenty powerful enough. Even though this has much fewer watts than my braun (which had 400)it blends MUCH better.

but it needs to be replaced. I've used this alot for everything from whipping a small amount of egg whites to making my protein shakes, to morning fruit smoothies to making creamed soups.

200 watts is enough power to get all of the jobs done quickly and efficiently. However my only "complaint" is that the plastic housing around the metal blade cracked at some point and gathered water. Ive continued to use it even though I think its unsanitary. I am now going to look for an immersion blender that is metal or that is designed so that if it cracks, it cant collect water.

I've had this blender for about a year. The attachment comes off while you are blending, and it has cracked in several places so that you can't get it clean (normal use, nothing too strenuous). I got online to order another one, and thought I'd say why.

I've been addicted to hand blenders for years. I bought this one when my previous, 6 year old Hamilton Beach, one died. Power level is just as good but what is this see through plastic all about? The first time I went to blend soup it melted out of shape and some shards came off it! I can't count the number of times I have performed this task with other blenders and I've never had a problem.

The attachment comes off while mixing.
Also, water gets trapped in the top of the attachment and begins to RUST. The rust has started to leak thru into the blades.
Would not buy again!!!!

This is one of the 3 kitchen appliances I use constantly. #1 is the microwave oven (of course :-), #2 is a Krups toaster oven, and #3 is this hand blender. My previous experience with counter top blenders is they are almost more trouble to clean than they are worth. I was looking for something more convenient to make protein shake smoothies. This fills the need nicely. Quick to use and easy to clean. It whips up previousloy crushed ice from the frig despenser with out a problem. I've been using it 5 times a week for over a year now. My only complaint (why its 4 instead of 5 stars) is that the blade attachement shaft is beginning to slip off where it mates with the motor-handle when under heavier load. Maybe I've abused the thing too much, I don't know. But its still very usable. Like I say, best I've found so far.

I bought this product and used the whisk attachment for a month or so without a problem. When we came to use the blender attachment it would not attach properly..infact as soon as you start to use it the attachment comes loose and falls off while it's in use. Pretty dangerous. The warranty is useless since you have to pay to ship back the old product (or at least some of it) and also send a check to cover (and then some) the shipping of a replacement. Since I'd rather not have another shoddy Hamilton Beach product I will put all that cash toward a better product by another manufacturer.

This was my first hand blender, but after only using it maybe once a week for omelettes, the rocker switch that selects Lo or Hi started to stutter. In other words, I'd select Hi or Lo, and it would blend at a stutter, like an engine running out of gas. Being a fixer, I took it apart, and saw blackened contacts for both the Hi and Lo setting, a sign of arcing with poor contact. I was able to fix it, but the fix only lasted briefly, and it again would utterly stop working then fire up when the rockers were depressed. I put it on the shelf and bought a flawlessly working Cuisinart Smart Stick that has been going for years now. Just took this Hamilton Beach off the shelf to give it one last go. The arcing could be seen as an orange glow through the plastic housing! Ozone and burnt plastic lingers from the Hamilton Beach hand blender. I consider this beyond bad and dangerous design flaw. Also, using the bladed blender in just one hot soup pot made the acrylic housing around the blades crack, massively, letting soup into the shaft housing, never to be cleaned again. The one Hamilton Beach stick blender I am now throwing out in the trash was a great introduction to stick blenders, but skip this one, spend just a little more, and get a hand blender with a metal shaft housing.
