Product Description

Amazon.com Review

With the 200-watt Hamilton Beach hand-held blender, there’s no need to get out a heavy mixer and bowl. Drinks can be blended right in the glass, soups pureed in the pot, and cream whipped in a portable bowl. Great for quickly blending small amounts and perfect for vacation-home use, the blender comes with two attachments: an 8-1/2-inch sharp-bladed blending wand with a protective plastic sleeve, and a 7-1/4-inch stainless-steel whisk. Both attachments twist securely onto the power handle and easily remove for hand washing. On the end of the power handle a two-speed button gives the option of low or high speed, and a five-foot cord provides good reach. A one-year warranty covers the hand blender against defects. --Ann Bieri

5.0 out of 5 stars Really nice!!! Much better than my other hand blenders., April 2, 2005

Reviewer (Flat Rock, MI) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Hamilton Beach 59770 Turbo-Twister 2-Speed Hand Blender (Kitchen)
I've had several hand blenders-it's a "thing" with me :) I started out with a hand-me-down from my Grandmother and after years of use basically wore it out. I've been looking for a good replacement and ended up trying a Braun and a Cuisinart. For all the power and attachments I still didn't like the Braun. The Cuisinart (Quick Prep) was loud, heavy/bulky and didn't seem to have much power. Here's what I like about this Hamilton Beach one:

-Manual says not to use it to blend ice but I do anyway and it does a great job of it
-I like the blade housing. The blade sits low so you can blend a tiny amount of anything (with other models you'd have to have a larger amount of food so that the blade can make contact). Also, with the openings around the housing of the blade less food gets stuck to it (when I used my braun half the food I blended ended up on the blender and when you're only doing 1/4 cup of something that's a problem). Also, the openings on the housing help to whip in air- important when you're doing drinks and shakes. The Braun also lacks in this area.
-I like that the bottom can be removed for cleaning (eventhough it can not be put in the dishwasher it's okay because when I'd put the shaft of the Braun in the dishwasher it would come out 1/2 filled with gross dishwasher water which defeated the purpose).
-I like the shape of the blade. The braun had 2 pointy blades where this one is more of an off set S shaped blade and it does a better job especially for frozen fruit, etc.
-At about 200 watts it's plenty powerful enough. Even though this has much fewer watts than my braun (which had 400)it blends MUCH better.

3.0 out of 5 stars Has served me well..., March 20, 2005
This review is from: Hamilton Beach 59770 Turbo-Twister 2-Speed Hand Blender (Kitchen)
but it needs to be replaced. I've used this alot for everything from whipping a small amount of egg whites to making my protein shakes, to morning fruit smoothies to making creamed soups.

200 watts is enough power to get all of the jobs done quickly and efficiently. However my only "complaint" is that the plastic housing around the metal blade cracked at some point and gathered water. Ive continued to use it even though I think its unsanitary. I am now going to look for an immersion blender that is metal or that is designed so that if it cracks, it cant collect water.

4.0 out of 5 stars Best I've used so far, August 26, 2005
This review is from: Hamilton Beach 59770 Turbo-Twister 2-Speed Hand Blender (Kitchen)
This is one of the 3 kitchen appliances I use constantly. #1 is the microwave oven (of course :-), #2 is a Krups toaster oven, and #3 is this hand blender. My previous experience with counter top blenders is they are almost more trouble to clean than they are worth. I was looking for something more convenient to make protein shake smoothies. This fills the need nicely. Quick to use and easy to clean. It whips up previousloy crushed ice from the frig despenser with out a problem. I've been using it 5 times a week for over a year now. My only complaint (why its 4 instead of 5 stars) is that the blade attachement shaft is beginning to slip off where it mates with the motor-handle when under heavier load. Maybe I've abused the thing too much, I don't know. But its still very usable. Like I say, best I've found so far.
