5.0 out of 5 stars Really nice!!! Much better than my other hand blenders.
I've had several hand blenders-it's a "thing" with me :) I started out with a hand-me-down from my Grandmother and after years of use basically wore it out. I've been looking for a good replacement and ended up trying a Braun and a Cuisinart. For all the power and attachments I still didn't like the Braun. The Cuisinart (Quick Prep) was loud, heavy/bulky and didn't seem to have much power. Here's what I like about this Hamilton Beach one:

-Manual says not to use it to blend ice but I do anyway and it does a great job of it
-I like the blade housing. The blade sits low so you can blend a tiny amount of anything (with other models you'd have to have a larger amount of food so that the blade can make contact). Also, with the openings around the housing of the blade less food gets stuck to it (when I used my braun half the food I blended ended up on the blender and when you're only doing 1/4 cup of something that's a problem). Also, the openings on the housing help to whip in air- important when you're doing drinks and shakes. The Braun also lacks in this area.
-I like that the bottom can be removed for cleaning (eventhough it can not be put in the dishwasher it's okay because when I'd put the shaft of the Braun in the dishwasher it would come out 1/2 filled with gross dishwasher water which defeated the purpose).
-I like the shape of the blade. The braun had 2 pointy blades where this one is more of an off set S shaped blade and it does a better job especially for frozen fruit, etc.
-At about 200 watts it's plenty powerful enough. Even though this has much fewer watts than my braun (which had 400)it blends MUCH better.

200 watts is enough power to get all of the jobs done quickly and efficiently. However my only "complaint" is that the plastic housing around the metal blade cracked at some point and gathered water. Ive continued to use it even though I think its unsanitary. I am now going to look for an immersion blender that is metal or that is designed so that if it cracks, it cant collect water.

4.0 out of 5 stars Best I've used so far, August 26, 2005
This review is from: Hamilton Beach 59770 Turbo-Twister 2-Speed Hand Blender (Kitchen)
This is one of the 3 kitchen appliances I use constantly. #1 is the microwave oven (of course :-), #2 is a Krups toaster oven, and #3 is this hand blender. My previous experience with counter top blenders is they are almost more trouble to clean than they are worth. I was looking for something more convenient to make protein shake smoothies. This fills the need nicely. Quick to use and easy to clean. It whips up previousloy crushed ice from the frig despenser with out a problem. I've been using it 5 times a week for over a year now. My only complaint (why its 4 instead of 5 stars) is that the blade attachement shaft is beginning to slip off where it mates with the motor-handle when under heavier load. Maybe I've abused the thing too much, I don't know. But its still very usable. Like I say, best I've found so far.

I've been addicted to hand blenders for years. I bought this one when my previous, 6 year old Hamilton Beach, one died. Power level is just as good but what is this see through plastic all about? The first time I went to blend soup it melted out of shape and some shards came off it! I can't count the number of times I have performed this task with other blenders and I've never had a problem.

I've had this blender for about a year. The attachment comes off while you are blending, and it has cracked in several places so that you can't get it clean (normal use, nothing too strenuous). I got online to order another one, and thought I'd say why.

Easy to clean and easy to handle. Blends right to the bottom of my 16 oz.cup! Easily works its way through frozen fruits and ice. Excellent ice-crusher! It's portable. I can take it to work with me. I've used it every day since I bought it.

4.0 out of 5 stars nice hand blender, March 29, 2007
This review is from: Hamilton Beach 59770 Turbo-Twister 2-Speed Hand Blender (Kitchen)
I got this same blender with 3 attachments and a storage box at walmart 8 months back for $24. Its still there...the stirrer is the 3rd attachment...first of all..this works great..i use it almost every other day...the only problem which is ignored by the company is there is no container provided to do all the whisking and blending....and since the blending attachment is plastic u cant use it directly in heat.
Myself and my friend got this the same time...hers is dead now...i think when mine dies ill get one with a chopper and more attachements..

UPDATE

The shaft and whisk of my blender broke and when i called the company they told me the warranty is only for the motor...not just that even if i had to order the same from them including the shipping is as good as gettin a new one...

No more hamilton beach hand blenders for me...for just 6 months lifespan..its not that cheap.

I've tried at least 6 other hand blenders, all more expensive than this one and this one is the best. I use it primarily for pureeing food and it does a great job of cutting through even rock-solid honey or coconut oil, meat at any temperature, without leaving lumps and without making my arm vibrate as though I'm working a jackhammer. It is by far the easiest to clean because the shell (a nice see-through, maybe silicone?)is not too deep and it's possible to get to the areas where food might get stuck. I haven't had it long enough to comment on wearability, but at this cheap a price, it won't be an issue to replace it. (I see others have talked about cracking. I wonder if that's from cleaning in the dishwasher, through a hot dry cycle? It's easy enough to clean by hand.)

I bought this product and used the whisk attachment for a month or so without a problem. When we came to use the blender attachment it would not attach properly..infact as soon as you start to use it the attachment comes loose and falls off while it's in use. Pretty dangerous. The warranty is useless since you have to pay to ship back the old product (or at least some of it) and also send a check to cover (and then some) the shipping of a replacement. Since I'd rather not have another shoddy Hamilton Beach product I will put all that cash toward a better product by another manufacturer.

The attachment comes off while mixing.
Also, water gets trapped in the top of the attachment and begins to RUST. The rust has started to leak thru into the blades.
Would not buy again!!!!
