We had a Rival immersion which was highly rated for a short time before I burned out the motor making whip cream. I since bought a regular mixer for making whip cream it does a far better job than an immersion blender.

I make a lot of cream soups and it is great for that without lugging out the big blender not to mention the clean up, the blender will soon be relegated to the basement as a back up. I like the case, it puts everything in one place and easy to store away. There is a milk shake attachment which is very nice and a whipping attachment, I suppose that would be much better for whip cream. I can see a lot of shakes and smoothies coming this summer with my new toy.

Someone mentioned clean up in the dish washer, a little tip for any immersion blender. As soon as I finish with it, I fill a glass or bowl with hot sudsy water and buzz it for a few seconds and then rinse, works great and just wipe off and put away, couldn't be easier.

Another hint if you get this one. It isn't entirely obvious or intuitive that the blender comes with the attachment adapter to use the shake and mixer already installed but doesn't work with the regular blender blade. You have to twist the attachment adapter off and install the blade. It may not make sense at the moment, but when you get it you will say, ah, that is what he meant.

My initial impression of this unit is very good.

I loved this immersion blender until the plastic casing on the immersion blender cracked after only the 3rd time using it. I was making carrot-pumpkin soup and needed to puree the carrots, and did not want to haul out my blender. This was a perfect use for the immersion blender. I've used it before twice on other soups, so I know that I didn't over-use its capacity. My soup turned out wonderfully, but after I rinsed the detachable wand, I noticed soupy-water still trapped inside and saw the 2-inch long crack.

I'm disappointed in this product, because I loved the ease of use and clean-up. I'm not sure if I'll keep this and use the other attachments, but now I need to get another immersion blender.

LOVE this item! I also love my KitchenAid mixer and blender, but with the Hamilton Beach hand blender, I don't have to drag out the heavy big guns to make whipped cream, whip egg whites for meringue or make smoothies. I keep it handy in the utensil crock on the counter, use it, and pop the attachments in the dishwasher. Quick and easy!

I have used this blender 4 times only to notice that the plasting casing on the blender cracked and soup-water keeps trapped inside (I've only used for soups). There's a crack that goes all the length of the device. I called customer service and they said their 1-year warranty only covers the motor and they tried to sell me the immersion blender for $12. Ridiculous! I really liked this product but I'm not going to buy an attachment that I know only last a few times... and the customer service at Hamilton Beach was awful!

I bought this hand blender for my daughter. She is one of those health nuts that likes to make fruit smoothies for snacks. She is always complaining of the mess and trouble to get out her big blender to make these and then the cleanup afterward. I checked out these hand blenders and read through all the comments from other users on Amazon and decided on this particular blender because it was rated very good and was priced right. As usual with Amazon purchases, the product was delivered promptly directly to my daughter's house.

She loves it! It comes apart easily for cleaning and its 200-watt motor provides plenty of power in making smoothies where you add ice to the glass to make the smoothie thick and creamy. It comes with several attachments which can be used for other kinds of mixing and chopping tasks. I am very satisfied with this particular item and my daughter uses it almost every day.

I bought this solely for the purpose of making smoothies in the morning, knowing it was not powerful enough for much more than that. I did not expect it to not even be capable of making smoothies however. This product should be advertised w/ a life expectancy of 10-15 smoothies. Multiple things went wrong with this product. The shaft corroded, the motor lost the power to turn the blade, and the handheld part shook uncontrollably. On top of that, it arrived from Amazon (not a vendor) w/ peculiar marks on the device and no interior wrapping, which made me wonder if I had received a used or refurbished product in the first place.

Very unsatisfied w/ this purchase and will look into a return.

I used it the first, and last, time as a whisk...within seconds the whisk attachment fell apart and I could not click it back on.....It seemed like a good idea to get one item as a hand mixer and hand blender but I guess if it does not last one butter creaming, there is no point

I bought this 6 mnths back and a month back the blade attachment broke, then later low speed button stopped working... All this topped with their horrible customer service - call waiting more then 30 min, no response to emails for weeks :(. Kind of running away from the Hamilton beach products :(

I specially bought this one because it had the beater attachment too. The attachments are lightweight and easy to clean. It has made my kitchen experience so much simpler. Make sure to let your soup cool before using the hand blender!

I received this as a much asked for Christmas gift and have used it about 10 times now and still get excited to use it. It doesn't get any easier than sticking it in my crockpot after making potato or black bean chicken soup and blending away. I can blend it for just a second to partially puree or I can whip the whole thing to liquidity in no time. This is my first immersion blender and I couldn't be happier!
