Great mixer with tons of features,

I have had this mixer for a while and I LOVE IT. I think I paid $24.99 Some things I really like: well, the price. You get so much stuff for the price, there is no other mixer that even compares. I love that it comes with different attachments: wire beaters, a whisk and drink mixer attachment. My old mixer had regular beaters, but I noticed that the wire beaters are better at mixing heavier mixes and they don't have a center post, which makes it easier to clean (I miss sticking my tongue in to lick the cookie dough stuck there!!) It comes with a cord wrap so I can put my mixer away in my kitchen cabinet and the cord doesn't dangle. You just wrap the cord at the back of the mixer, slide the cover back and you are done. Unlike retractable cords, this is better since in my experience, retractable cord mechanisms often break after a while and the cord only gets stored 1/2 way. Well, love also the case that snaps on the bottom of the mixer to keep all the attachments together. With my old mixer I had to spend 10 minutes looking in my cooking utensils drawer until I found my beaters, now, when I am ready to bake, everything is together. The mixer is just comfortable to hold. One of the things I like is that speed 1 is slower than my prior mixer. So when I have flour in my bowl, I don't end up wearing it (and my counter tops stay clean). I would definitively recommend this mixer to anyone looking for a great mixer at a great price. Another reviewer commented on the vent, but I think it is actually better than other mixers that just have slots, you sure get stuff inside that way, but here, the way the air comes in is kind of hidden, so it is out of the way. And honestly, with the slow speed, nothing goes flying or splattering. I have not found this a problem.

Somewhere along the way manufacturers of hand mixers begun an arms race of sorts. I suppose they got the idea in their heads that people wanted high power mixers and thats true. You started seeing 100+watt models then 150 then 200 and now many models approach if not surpass 300watts. The only problem is. As Peter Parker's uncle said "with great power comes great responsibility". And most of these high powered mixers pretty much deliver all of that power to the beaters on every setting, even low. Which makes them almost unusable. Any batter thinner than cookie dough and you have a Jackson Pollock painting on every surface in your kitchen. The reason I bought this mixer was its "special slow first speed" that was listed in the product description. As advertised it does actually have a slow 1st speed that makes it usable. And at 290 watts it has plenty of power to spare if you need it.

I bought this to replace a much older Hamilton Beach which died after many years of faithful service. I wasn't sure about the wisk beaters but am pleasantly surprised that they do a splendid job. This mixer sets on the counter and in the bowl buch better than my old one which fell over all the time. I especially like the snap on container which holds all the beaters. I love the wind up cord on the back end. It takes up less space in my cabinet and is very compact. I wouln't recommend it for heavy duty mixing. I have a commercial mixer for that.

Hamilton Beach Hand Mixer,

They've thought of everything I wanted in a hand mixer. The beaters have long posts so it's possible to beat a big bowl of mashed potatoes; food also doesn't stick to the beaters because the center post has been eliminated. Love the cord wrap and the beater storage attachment. Manual controls (versus electronic ones) are easy to use with one finger. Nice weight and plenty of speed.

This was a requested birthday gift from my daughters. My eldest daughter had one and loved it, hence the reason I have one.I like the following: It has a nice shape, nothing wrong with liking what a appliance looks like on the counter. The storage box is a little hard to get off, but what a great idea! I love Adams old fashioned peanut butter, the kind with oil that seperates. This is a wonder at mixing this very difficult to mix item. I too like the low first speed. The highest speed really spins fast and works great for making whipping cream and blending non-compatiable substances like milk and oils. I like the air intake, it is in a shielded spot, is easy to clean, and needs cleaning but seldom. This mixer is easy to keep looking good, the plactic stays shiny and it's smooth surfaces don't let batter etc stick. The three styles of beaters have done everthing that I have wanted them to do. I have used mine for years, and like it much better then my stand mixer, which I don't ever use, so I gave it away. A top flight mixer from an old provider of quality appliances.

Before purchasing this handmixer, I did extensive research on options available and reviews by customers. This mixer has more than met my expectations. I wanted a mixer with a slow start; it seemed that this was one of the biggest complaints when I read others' review. This mixer delivered; it has a slow start, yet is extremely powerful. The mixer also stands up, so you can put it down while you scrape off the sides of the bowl. I have used it to mix cookie dough and icing, and both have turned out pefectly. The best part though, is the price - for around $30, you get a great mixer! I highly recommend this mixer.

Poor design and hard to clean,

I returned this item after 1 use. I was lured into buying it because of the claim the box made to it being powerful. However I have some major complaints.1) the silver cover on the air intake located on the nose of the mixer leaves about a 5mm gap where spray from whatever you are mixing can get trapped in there. Because the cover is not removable, there is no way to clean out the goop. 2) the cord stores in the rear section of the mixer. This section slides open an closed clumbsily, and is again a major place spray can get into. This adds to the clean up of the item significatly after use. 3) one of the beaters kept popping off and didn't ever really seat correctly. Compared to my old "cheapy" mixer that just died after 10 years of use, this one is big and bulky.

It passed the Toll House Cookie Test!,

My ultimate test for a hand-mixer is making a batch of Toll House Cookies...all that creaming and blending made my arms ache because my old hand-mixer (which this one replaces) had one speed left (SCREECH) and the dough would just wade up in the beaters, so I'd have to do all that mixing by hand. (I so appreciate my Grandmother's effort now...batch after batch of hot Toll House Cookies long before hand-mixers or mixers of any kind had been invented much less affordable)Anyway...all 6 speeds worked and this little jewel even managed to beat in those hard lumps of brown sugar I added on purpose to be mean. The cookies are just out of the oven; I've cleaned my nice little new hand mixer, patted it on it's little speed control and pronounced it "a keeper". I'll let you know if it continues to perform. TIME....that's what we all look for....how long something will last. ( Note: I said some THING not some ONE...but that applies as well!)

I have just used this mixer for the first time and was ecstatic because I mixed ground almonds into my batter and they didn't land on the ceiling as they always did with my overly-enthusiastic Cuisinart. This mixer has a really slow first speed. Perfect!
