4.0 out of 5 stars Review of Hamilton Beach Big Mouth Juicer
Customer Video Review     Length:: 6:35 Mins
It's great in every way (but see below!).

The sticking switch problem I had earlier is gone!

Veggies that don't work for me in this juicer:

oranges
pineapple
- too much bitter pulp included

pears
bananas
- too much like a puree

Mango: killed appliance.

Update:...

2.0 out of 5 stars Small basket and cutting plate are the problem
This is essentially the same design as 67650 with less expensive construction (more plastic than metal). They suffer from the same common design flaws: small cutting plate, small basket, and the honeycomb filter is too fine. The problem with small cutting plate is that there are fewer cutting "teeth" and slower rotation velocity toward the edge. Combined with the "big...

Update: 1/16/08. Bad news and good news:

The bad news is that the plastic latches are too weak.

I was juicing a mango and at at the end it gave a great shudder and the locking latches blew to bits!

The manual mentions mangoes and says only that they be peeled, I did nothing wrong.

The good news: I called up Hamilton Beach, and without fuss they arranged for a

free replacement ($5.50 shipping, that's ok).

While I was at it, I upgraded to the 67650 model, with metal latches, for $10.

So don't get this one, get the other one here:

Hamilton Beach 67650 Big Mouth Pro Juice Extractor, Chrome

The customer service is outstanding.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just about perfect, January 9, 2008
This review is from: Hamilton Beach 67600 Big Mouth Juice Extractor, White (Kitchen)
I paid $50 for this at WalMart and I can't praise it enough. If you want to try juicing and you want a powerful yet affordable machine, this is the product for you. Do all the research I did - compare prices, performance reviews, and product specs - and you will see that this product has all the power and features of machines that cost almost double the price, yet it's priced for the average consumer.

The 800 watt motor works like a dream; the newer Hamilton Beach models are being marketed as having 1.1 horsepower motors but this is just a marketing trick - 800 watts is the equivalent of 1.1 horsepower. Make sure you read labels and product IDs carefully - there was a seemingly identical product right next to the one I bought that was the same price but was slightly larger and only had a 450 watt motor. When it comes to a juicer that works well, you need power, not size.

One thing I must mention is that the instructions encourage you to soak the mesh basket/filter in hot soapy water immediately after use to make cleanup easier. The fact is that this should not be a suggestion but a requirement. Grainy-textured fruits and vegetables (apples, pears, potatoes) leave behind sand-like residue on the basket that is very difficult to clean if you do not soak it in hot water. But if you do soak, clean up is a breeze. And the handy brush that comes with the product is perfect.

Try juicing - it will change your life. And buying this product is the best place you can start.

Combined with the "big mouth," the motor will slow down significantly when a large amount of food goes down the throat. The problem with small basket is that pulp does not get hydrated enough before flying out of chute. The smaller area also makes cleaning more frequent. The problem with overly find honeycomb mesh filter is that is get clogged easily. Once it is clogged, the juicing efficiency is greatly reduced.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good one if you are ready to spend more time in cleaning, October 29, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Hamilton Beach 67600 Big Mouth Juice Extractor, White (Kitchen)
I bought this juicer a month back and using it atleast 3 to 4 times a week. It is really a good one and can able to extract more than what I expected. But only problem is the filter. You need to clean the filter in between the process in order to get more juice. I use to clean it every glass of juice and in my experience, I get the same amount of juice if I clean it. Otherwise, I will get only around 75% of it and it keep reducing until you clean it. One good thing is the brush that has been provided with it which is very useful to reach all the corners of the filter and tray.

After using three different brands of juicers through the years, I read several reviews on various other juicers as well as the Hamilton Beach Big Mouth Juicer. I discovered that the size of the motor was important to maximum juice extraction amd minimum juice left in the pulp. The big feed shute was also attractive to me. This juicer is the best one I've had!

Excellent product for the money. If you're getting into juicing and don't want to spend a ton of money, this is the way to go.

I became a vegetarian 3 months ago and this is my first juicer. After researching for a juicer I decided on the Hamilton Beach 67600 and I'm so glad that I did! It works wonderfully and so easy to clean!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Juicer I ever owned, April 3, 2010
By
This review is from: Hamilton Beach 67600 Big Mouth Juice Extractor, White (Kitchen)
After trying several other brands of Juicers and not being pleased with the performance of any of them, I found the best Juicer (at least for me).

I like to include Spinach in my Vegetable juices and none of the other Juicers would do that for me except this one.

I am very pleased and hope to be juicing for many years to come. Cleanup isn't too bad once you get a routine going. If you clean right after you finished juicing, it is no trouble at all. Also found easy to disassemble and reassemble.

Love this Juicer.

3.0 out of 5 stars big mouth pro vrs juice master plus, March 27, 2009
This review is from: Hamilton Beach 67600 Big Mouth Juice Extractor, White (Kitchen)
I purchased the big mouth.I got what I paid for.It does juice. The screen is very small and seemed to clog after just one glass of apple juice. It was great all the same.Very thick with a lot of foam. That was no problem for me.The juice was so good I knew I was going to be a daily juicer. This product did work well but was very cheap. All plastic. The pro model is made a little tougher. It would have the same screen though.I returned the big mouth. After doing some research I purchased a Breaville juice master plus.It came with a foam separating pitcher and I wanted to share this with my wife and kids.I like thick foamy juice but I was sure my family would protest.the screen/cutting area is much larger. It didn't clog even afer juiceing several pitchers.I needed a 2 speed machine so I could do citrus.I'm doing oranges and tangerines on low speed and it makes a ton of juice. The Breaville is put together very well.Even the plug and cord is heavy duty. The foam separator works great.I juiced every thing in the fridge.the only thing it had trouble with was a tamatoe.I did get juice out of it.I was shocked at how much juice came out of a small wedge of cabbidge.

This juicer is small enough to fit on a kitchen counter. It's easy enough to assemble and take apart. The brush that comes with it makes it easier to clean the mesh basket.
