Part of a Healthy Lifestyle

Did you know that eating fruits and vegetables are an important part of a healthy lifestyle? According to studies by the USDA, eating more fruits and vegetables reduces your risk of chronic diseases like heart attacks and strokes, some cancers, heart disease, obesity, and type 2 diabetes, in addition to acute ailments like kidney stones and high blood pressure.

With the Big Mouth Pro Juice Extractor, kick-starting and maintaining a healthy lifestyle couldn't be simpler. In just one 6 to 10-oz. serving (175-300 ml), fresh juice can fulfill the recommended daily value of Vitamin A and D, calcium, potassium, protein and fiber. And the Big Mouth Pro Juice Extractor is able to do that without the need for sugar, preservatives or additives.

Freshly Prepared Juice Ranks High

A glass of fresh, natural juice is an excellent, healthy way to begin your morning routine, break up your day or inject some serious energy into a lazy afternoon. With the Big Mouth Pro Juice Extractor, there's lots of versatile options for juicing, so you can enjoy the invigorating taste of the very freshest juice, any time of the day.

Variety is Key

In addition to its speed and durability, the Big Mouth Pro Juice Extractor comes with healthy recipes and suggestions for adding more vegetables to your day and "smart shopping" for the flavor and the season. Try out one of these healthy, delicious recipes to taste the difference in freshness:

THE GO-GETTER
  • 4 medium kale leaves
  • 2 medium carrots, trimmed
  • 1 cup baby spinach leaves
  • 1 Granny Smith apple, quartered
  • 1/2 lemon, peeled
  • 1-inch piece fresh ginger, peeled

Juice all ingredients in order listed. Stir well and serve. Makes 2 servings

SPICY VEGGIE DELIGHT
  • 2 broccoli flowerets with stalk
  • 1/4 green pepper
  • 1 carrot
  • 1 celery stalk
  • 1 tomato
  • Hot pepper sauce to taste

Juice all ingredients in order listed. Stir well and serve. Makes 1 serving

Alternative Uses

Not sure what to do with the leftover pulp? The leftover pulp is mostly fiber and cellulose, which like the juice, contains necessary vital nutrients for the daily diet. Any leftover pulp can be used in a variety of recipes, frothy drinks, casseroles or soups, as well as for garden composting.

Thirsty for something other than juice? The Big Mouth Pro Juice Extractor can help children, teens and adults get their daily vitamin intake with the option of making soy, almond or rice milk. To start, soak one cup of soybeans, almonds or rice in four cups of water for 24 to 48 hours in the refrigerator, and then slowly pour one cup into the food chute. The liquid extracted from the soaked mixture is the "milk." For enhanced milk flavor, consider adding vanilla or honey.

Easy Cleaning, More Enjoying

Ease of cleaning is particularly important, because as with any small kitchen appliance, you will naturally use it more frequently if you can anticipate a hassle-free cleanup. With the Big Mouth Pro Juice Extractor, all parts – except for the motor base – are dishwasher safe. Here are some more easy-to-follow tips for effortless cleanup:

  • Place a plastic grocery bag in the pulp bin container to collect the pulp and once juicing is complete, simply discard.
  • When you're done juicing, pass the strainer basket under running water and brush off excess fiber buildup or pulp with included cleaning brush.

TIPS & CARE

Some extractors yield more juice than others, and the proportion of pulp to juice varies from fruit to fruit. Most fruits and vegetables such as apples, carrots and cucumbers will not need to be pre-cut into smaller pieces since they are likely to fit into the extra-wide feed chute. However, it is recommended that oranges, pineapples, melons and mangoes be peeled before placing in the unit to minimize impact on juice flavor. Also, all fruits with pits and large seeds, such as nectarines, peaches, apricots, plums and cherries MUST be pitted before juicing. To extract the maximum amount of juice every time, gently guide food down the feed chute slowly so that juice doesn't spray out of the spout. Do not allow pulp container to overfill, as this may prevent correct operation or damage to the unit.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the cheapest juicer's on the market April 16, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase
Like many people, I was inspired by the "Fat sick and nearly dead" documentary. I can not compare it to other juicers as this is my first and only one I own. I did do a lot of research however, and for what its worth, the Hamilton is one of the cheapest ones on the market. Will a extra $200 get you a better juicer? I do not know, however this does get the job done, very well.

I have so far juiced, carrots, apples, ginger roots, celery, kale, broccoli, lemons/limes, spinach, and mango. All produce varying amounts of juice, but for the most part the pulp that comes out is pretty dry. I have re-juiced the pulp to see if I get more anything but I get a few drips out of it at most and do not find it worthwhile.

The one issue I have with this however is cleaning the metal centrifuge thing is a pain in the rear. It comes with a brush and it really is the only thing that can clean it. The rest of the plastic that comes in contact with juice or pulp is dishwasher safe, but if you don't clean it immediately it is pretty ineffective. My tip is to hand clean it RIGHT AFTER you juice. If you leave anything with pulp on it, it will make cleaning 10 times harder. I guess my only other thing is, due to the height of the machine, the cup that catches the juice is some what small. I make anywhere from 1-2 quarts of juice at a time so I have to dump the juice into a pitcher a few times.

Another tip: if you line the pulp collector with a plastic (grocery) bag, you don't even have to clean that thing at all.

All in all, if you want a great juicer but don't want to spend the big bucks (>$200) this is the way to go. Just know that with healthy choices, comes cleaning chores.

5.0 out of 5 stars New to Juicing December 31, 2011

Went sisters to visit she had a Jack LeLane Style juicer. I loved the idea of juicing and wanted one. Looked on consumer reports and Big mouth was rated full red circle. Better than more expensive ones. Found for $58. Very happy with amount of juice, ease of clean-up, speed of juicer. It has never gone off balance from too much pulp. BTW feed the pulp to my dog daily. I feel like we are both healthier. Only thing I would do differently is to get the model that has the metal side clamps. Mine has plastic side clamps. Which have not broken but when taken apart but stick out to the sides, so could easily get hit and snap. Biggest complaint was delivery and order prosessing. Didn't even get processed for 5 days and took most of the 10 days to recieve. Did standard shipping.

3.0 out of 5 stars good performance for the money April 20, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase
i've used the juicer on apples, carrots, grapes, cucumbers, lettuce, parsley, spinach, kale, ginger, lemons, oranges, limes, tomatoes, bananas, and pears. seems to perform better on the "crunchy" fruits and veggies although i was surprised how well the bananas did. often i run the pulp through again to extract more juice because it seems damp (not wet) most runs.

easy to take apart/put together and nice that all the plastic parts are dish-washable. the grate is hard to clean even after following the manual instructions to soak in hot, soapy water for 10 minutes. that's just the nature of any juicer though.

i can probably prep veggies, juice, soak, and clean the unit in 40 minutes. is that a long time? compared to the drive-thru, maybe, but you're probably better off juicing.
