5.0 out of 5 stars This thing rules!
I read the only positive review on this juicer and am glad I trusted it. This juicer is efficient, easy to clean, and makes a good amount of juice for the the amount of produce you put in. I used to work in a juice bar, and can say that this model does the job. I will say that it helps to prep the fruit into chunks that aren't so big you have to force them in, but not so...

1.0 out of 5 stars Too many disapointments to make up for the pleasure
This is a serious juicer with lots of power, but there are so many "not good" pieces that I wish I could return it.

* It's noisy, noisy, noisy - you cannot talk over it.
* The way the pulp is expelled, a big lump gets caught in the lid - nasty surprise after you (think you've) emptied the pulp bin.

* More surprise in the pulp arena, it throws away chunks of fruit! We sent thru the last of the cranberries (maybe 6-7 of them)& not even a trickle of juice came thru! Sure enough, there they were on the top of the pulp bin.
* It needs 3 hands to take it apart - two to lift & one to hold the machine down...and
* Once you've got it apart, it doesn't nestle neatly back together - which is why we can't return it - we pushed down too hard on the grasping lever - <snap!> now the lid is broken.

It's also pretty big which means it has to live on the counter top - I was semi-aware of this when I bought it, but still twas a surprize to see just *how* big the darn thing is.

Oh well - live and learn.

1.0 out of 5 stars Waste Of Money, December 10, 2002

This thing is a piece of junk. I was so disappointed with it. It's nice and lightweight, but it's also flimsy. I've used a juicer before and I never had problems like I did with this one. I had juice leaking everywhere! This thing is so messy. If you want a juicer, do not buy this one. I'm not overly impressed with anything from Hamilton Beach anyway. If I could, I'd give it zero stars.

Hard to take apart to clean, Hard to clean in cracks, and you have to hold the cup in place so your juice don't pour all over, It's very messy! Had it for only 7-8 months and it is already dieing on me! If I had a choice, I wouldn't give it any stars!

Just starting out at juicing, my recipe book said, buy a cheap model, see how you like the juice, then go from there. Trust me, don't start out cheap. If you have an experience like mine you won't want to juice. This machine was amazingly slow, messy, and a horror to clean up. I have since bought a different juicer that I love and use everyday. This one got one try and has since been banned from the kitchen. Do your research, read the reviews and don't stop here!

I used to work in a juice bar, and can say that this model does the job. I think the people who had trouble with this cheap and decent juicer should go back to making smoothies in their garbage disposals;-)

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for the price, July 12, 2002

I hadn't expected to find a decent juicer at such a low price. I'm sure there are other brands out there that do a better job, but this is a solid buy if you don't have $200 to spend. Cleaning is easy with the exception of the blade and strainer. I've found a little scrub brush works best on that part.

1.0 out of 5 stars One of the worst juicers on the planet!!!!, March 1, 2004

This was absolutely the worst kitchen appliance I've ever bought. How someone can say this machine is quiet is beyond me! This juicer was a horror to work with! Noisy as heck, a total waste of money, time, and good fruit and veggies. Most of the fruit was stuck in the pulp bin or running down the side of the machine instead of where it should have been...in my glass as juice!!!

2.0 out of 5 stars Too Messy!, July 28, 2004
This review is from: Hamilton Beach 67811 HealthSmart Juice Extractor (Kitchen)
This is the third juice extractor we've tried so I am starting to know what I'm talking about. There are too many parts to remove and clean on this one, and the base becomes a big mess, too. The fruit that is left is very wet still, so we're getting too little juice for the amount of fruit. And the place where you put the fruit in is too small. It takes way too much time to prep the fruit small enough. I was very disappointed in this juicer, to say the least.
