4.0 out of 5 stars Easy to Use
I'm glad I bought this flatbread maker. My family enjoys the tortillas and other wraps that I make. The flatbreads come out beautifully shaped, and they release easily from the press with a flick of the wrist. The tortillas and the wraps made from refrigerated biscuit dough (the kind that comes in a can) were especially good. I was a little disappointed with the...

3.0 out of 5 stars Good idea, but poor implementation
I enjoy using this to make "tortillas" with the dinner roll dough.

Problems:
1. It is HUGE. Not recommended if you have a small kitchen
2. The cooking pan on top is small and it doesn't come out. It is very difficult to clean after cooking.
3. The tortilla press has to be attended at all times. You have to press it all the time. It makes an...

The flatbreads come out beautifully shaped, and they release easily from the press with a flick of the wrist. The tortillas and the wraps made from refrigerated biscuit dough (the kind that comes in a can) were especially good. I was a little disappointed with the pitas, since they were tough and didn't brown very well on the top griddle. I was happier with the results when I browned the pitas on my stovetop griddle. My guess is that the griddle on the flatbread maker just doesn't get hot enough.

I mostly use this for making flour tortillas as we are a Mexican/American household. I find it very easy to use and my husband loves the fresh tortillas! My Mother-in-law was so impressed with mine that now I have to order her one!!!

If you are planning to buy this for making rotis/chappatis, dont buy this. It doesn't flatten the dough enough, and hence can never make the roti that we are used to.

I bought this flat bread maker thinking it would be a great addition to my kitchen.
I was very disappointed. It does not bake evenly and the recipies that are included have to be altered quite a bit. All in all it was a big let down. If I had to do it over again, I would not!

We first heard about it as a tortilla maker. It does that job great especially with frozen biscuit dough. Our favorite is croissant dough. My family loves the foccacio bread and all those great Middle Eastern breads, including the Indian breads, chapati's and naan. You'll love this machine because you can just set it on your table without going back and forth to your stove. Whether it's burritos or wraps, with the on board cooking/oven pan on top, you can mix and match all your favorite foods. With this one appliance you can prepare a full meal.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not that bad, April 8, 2003

I have owned one of these for one year. The negative reviewers are correct - it really doesn't make flatbreads from scratch (tortillas, breads) well at all. However it does a nice job making flatbreads from biscuit dough. I really use it mostly for heating ready made tortillas, making quesadillas by heating the tortillas below & then finishing on top in the frypan portion. Also does a nice job cooking home fries and is easy enough for my 10 year old to make himself sunny side up eggs cooked perfectly every time with warm tortillas or tortilla wraps. I think of it more as a southwestern breakfast device. Reviewers are correct in that it is big, and the frying pan needs to be wiped out. Bottom line is that at this discounted price if you have the room and want to experiment its worth a try.

This invention is incredible!! Our family just buys cannister biscuit or crescent roll dough (Pillsbury etc) and we press out hummmm delicious wraps and we put anything inside. Tastes great and super fast.. My other young friends all want to try it at the same time. Everybody thinks it awesome and my Mother loves it because her children now want to cook and feed themselves. It's fun. Thanks Hamilton and Amazon !

5.0 out of 5 stars One Minute Flat Bread MealMaker, April 12, 2001

This is a wonderfully quick and efficient flat bread maker. Just mix your dough, flatten it with a roller, and place it on the little pan. Make cookies, flat bread, raisin bread, honey/maple syrup sweetened bread, and make it just the way YOU want it, not the way some company wants to give it to you. I use all organic ingredients, and add lots of wonderful flavorings to make it taste just the way I want it.

I am enjoying the use of this product. My husband is diabetic and counts carbs. This gadget allows me to make thin, interesting, and tasty breads of a size to my liking using a 15gm size of dough. I can cook the flat bread in the "press", take it out of the press quickly and bake it in the "grill", or add a tsp. of oil to the "grill" and have low flat fry bread that is crispy....... 3 different breads starting from a ball of dough. My current dough favorite is the frozen but not yet cooked biscuit. The unit is large and storage may become a problem but since I like it I know I will manage. There was a learning curve to sucessfully preparing a tasty bread but the time spent was very worth it.
