The grinder has two major problems;
1. The top is difficult to line up and properly put on. Once lined up it requires excessive force to seat and it often slips out of position requiring you to line it up again.
2. The grinder has 3 major groups of grinds with fine control within each group. There is NO difference within each group of fine control and a minimal difference between the 3 groups. I still count mentally the seconds to get the grind I want which is the exact reason I bought a grinder with grind control.
It does not deliver as avertised!

I have purchased two of these Hamilton Beach coffee grinders this year and both have failed. On both, the core of the unit (motor & blade) has slowly separated from the casing so that the lid no longer operates the safety interlock switch, rendering the unit inoperable. This is poor engineering design. I now use a $20 Krups unit; it does not have the built-in timer but it works. Viva los Germans!

I had got this coffee grinder as a Christmas present. It is a very attractive grinder and I loved all of the features. I used it for a year and loved it but then it stopped working after a year and just doesn't work anymore.
