5.0 out of 5 stars Amazingly good coffee
I'm a coffee lover, I can drink it morning, noon, or night. I use Eight O'Clock Columbian beans (grind my own) and water from our PUR filter. For years, I swore by my Braun AromaDeluxe, and later my Krups coffee maker. For my birthday, my wife got me the Deluxe Brew Station on a lark (she had seen it on a late night TV commercial).

2.0 out of 5 stars I am on my third one
I purchased my brewstation a year ago. I love the taste of the coffee but the coffee maker keeps failing. Hamilton Beach worked with me everytime. First the pot leaked, so I called Hamilton Beach and they said to send the Pot to them and they would send me another one. That was great. Then the coffee maker started boiling my coffee. So I paid again and sent...

I was skeptical as she set it up for the first time and set the timer for six the next morning. I woke to a great aroma and the BEST cup of coffee I've ever had at home. No more skepticism! In fact, I'll probably buy one for my office too.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the Best Coffeemakers, January 3, 2006
We had one coffee maker for about a year or so, thinking, coffee is coffee, right? How can it possibly taste any different?
Well, I bought this for my pops as a x-mas present, and we make coffee in both this and the old one, using the Flavor+ setting. what a difference! this coffee taste SO much better. and it has a decaf setting for those who don't drink caffene.
it even comes with a cleaning kit that is easy to use. the gold tone filter along with the brita water filter are also a plus. easy to use, programmable, an auto-off (0-4 hours) function, a bright blue digital display, easy pouring, and it just plain looks nice. i have a white kitchen but this still adds style!
spend the extra cash buying the deluxe version rather than the lesser one! you'll be glad you did!

So I paid again and sent the entire pot back this time. Hamilton Beach sent me another coffee pot. I was pleased. I was lucky because I still had a back up coffee pot. Then the new coffee pot died again, it just went dead. I didnt even have it very long. This time When I called I figured I was out of luck, my warranty on the first coffee pot had expired. I guess because I received a second coffee pot I also received another warranty. This time I didnt have to send the entire coffee pot. I just cut the plug and sent it. Now I have another new coffee pot. I havent plugged it in yet, I hope it works longer then the other ones. I think it makes great coffee when it works. Maybe I just received a couple of lemons. make sure you keep your receipts. Good luck in NC

4.0 out of 5 stars Good coffee, with minor annoyances, March 6, 2008

I got this coffeemaker as a Christmas gift, to replace my aging Cuisinart Grind&Brew. (I now buy pre-ground coffee to avoid waking up the rest of the house.) Overall, I'm pleased. I haven't had failures that other reviewers have described.

Pros:
- Makes good coffee. This is the most important point!
- It has four "flavor settings". I think this just controls how quickly the water/steam is added. (One of the settings is for "decaf". I love the caution in the manual: "This setting does NOT decaffeinate coffee." Imagine the jittery phone calls they must have received!)
- Controls are easy to use, such as setting the time of day or the wake-up time.
- Cleanup is pretty easy.

Cons:
- I'm not a fan of the "one-hand dispensing" feature. A properly designed carafe will not drip or spill, and will fill a mug in 2 seconds compared to an annoying 10 seconds with the one-hand dispenser.
- The amount of horizontal force required to push the dispenser button ends up pushing the coffeemaker across the counter, so you need to hold it down with your other hand (not exactly one-hand dispensing now, is it?), being careful to avoid the hot part at the top. Maybe a better set of rubber feet could fix this problem.
- The whole water-filling protocol. First, you fill the top half (which is actually a plastic carafe) with water to the right level. But the bottom of the carafe is not flat and level, so it needs to be kept in the coffeemaker to ensure an accurate water level. Then you take the carafe out and pour the water into the base. But the bulky carafe and the smallish holes in the base make water spills a big risk. And there's no water level indicator in the base, so if you spill water, or decide at the last minute that you actually wanted to make more coffee than originally planned, then I'm not sure how you would do this accurately. Maybe pick up the whole base, dump out the water, and start again? Yuck.
- The carafe is not supposed to be washed in the dishwasher, presumably because of the metal heating plate, metal screws, etc. The inside bottom has a lot of non-smooth parts, so it's hard to clean by hand, and by now mine is probably gathering thick layers of ancient coffee sludge. Yuck.

Don't get me wrong -- these cons are really pretty minor in my opinion. Overall I've gotten used to it and I'm happy with the coffee it makes.

5.0 out of 5 stars A pleasure to brew, October 19, 2007
This is a device for people who enjoy trying new things. Take a few minutes to read the instructions, patiently assemble the thing (about 7 minutes), and congratulations! Everyone that walks into your kitchen will notice your cool coffeepot.

Things I like: The coffee tastes great
the four settings- (Decaf, 1-4 Cup, Extra strong, regular)
The appearance
The timer and controls..

Things I would have designed differently:
The way it's engineered assumes you fill what becomes the 'dispenser' to the desired# of cups, pour it into the base, replace the 'dispenser', place the coffee basket, fill the basket with grounds, and close it up. I just keep a 'pre-marked' jug on the counter with my standard 8-cups marked off... I find it much easier.

Although I love it personally, remember that a lot of people don't want to read instructions and learn something new... if you are one of those that likes to yank the pot out, plug it in and go, avoid it.

2.0 out of 5 stars What a huge disappointment, December 12, 2007

I purchased this coffee maker about a year ago and was impressed with the style. Shortly after we started using it, I noticed coffee was leaking from the bottom. I called Hamilton Beach and a woman on the phone promptly sent me a new carafe, no questions asked. This should have been an alert to me... but we started using the new carafe and the leaking stopped. But only for a few months. We are going out tonight to buy a new coffee pot because this one is ruining our counter top. BTW, I read a previous review that someone wrote, stating that if you tighten the screws on the bottom of the carafe, it will stop the leaking... DONT DO IT!! It actually made it much much worst. If you have a leaky machine, call HB and ask for a replacement pot.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's the best, forget the rest, December 8, 2007
The Hamilton Beach Brew Sation was a Christmas present from my brother-in-law, who usually has lousy
taste. He knows I"m a real coffee addict and tend to burn up a pot or two every year. After unwrapping
the Hamilton Beach Brew Station tried to figure out this strange contraption. Made the first pot with this
sucker and the coffee was great. The biggest suprise was you don't have to put up with the proveribal pot
that won't pour. Stick your cup under the dispenser and it does and it does, no drips,no spills, it just plain
puts coffee in your cup. It keeps the rest of the coffee at just the right temp. for over an hour, THEN SHUTS
ITSELF OFF automatically. All this and it makes great coffee.
