Fantastic Mixer,

WOW! This is a real work horse of a machine. I picked mine up on eBay a few months ago and I couldn't be happier. With 800 watts of power you don't have to worry about thawing butter or handling the thickest of doughs. It includes three attachments heads (wire whisk, dough hook and beater) and they are very sturdy. The steel mixing bowl is sturdy and cleans easily. Controls are simply and it has a great safety cutoff to prevent the machine from operating when the head is tilted back.

Hamilton Beach CPM700 Commercial Stand Mixer, Silver I bought this mixer when I had a baking business making about 50 cakes plus many pounds of cookies a week. It is the 4th mixer I bought after I burned through 3 others. Most people don't need to have as large a bowl but if you do, I would recommend this one over the Kitchen Aid and definitely over the Viking I had. Most importantly it has an automatic shut off when the motor gets overheated, which the others do not. It doesn't offer a splatter shield, but it is the exact shape as the Viking so you can order one from that company and it will work fine. The warrantee is not as good as the Kitchen Aid which automatically sends you another within days, but it also is more durable if you are doing some heavy duty baking.

Great mixer,

This is a really good machine. I have had mine about 10 years and it has been non-stop. I am pretty tough on it too. It has a 7 quart bowl, which makes it possible to do up to 3 batches of cookies at once. A real time saver. There is a cut-off switch when tilted and it will never start up unless you hit the green button. So you never have the flour going all over the kitchen. The speed knob turns smoothly with complete control. It has a lot of power to get through the toughest doughs. The bowl locks in very easily too. I finally thought it would be time to disassemble it a bit for a thorough cleaning and was surprised on its good internal condition. Other than its excellent performance, I like the fact that it is lightweight. Much easier to get in and out of cabinets than the other brands. My only request is to be able to get attachments, i.e. meat grinder, blender, pasta maker, etc. I have not been able to find any, and there are all the hook ups on the machine.

Made in England by Kenwood...,

...and built like a tank, the Hamilton Beach Commercial CPM500, unfortunately, is no longer available, being that the restaurant industry prefers the larger, 7-quart CPM700 for their needs, which is still available. The 5-quart model however is perfect for home use, as is the 7-quart as well. It's noisy, but only because of its all-metal construction; a good thing. I purchased mine, the CPM500, brand-new only a few years ago, and just as they were being phased out. For the price, you'd be hard-pressed to find another its equal, let alone its superior. If I were you, and if you appreciate a high-quality stand mixer, buy the 7-quart that's still available, before it's phased out, or its manufacture moves to China like most everything else. You will NOT be disappointed. What are you waiting for?

I have a kitchen aid 5 cup mixer that I have no other issues with except for capacity. I use this for larger dough and it does deliver.Very nice looking machine and built like a brick. I want to mention that behind the top front plastic Grey cover there is an accessory/attachment socket, but I have not found anything online or in the manual that list any attachment. Maybe for the future. Also, for the capacity at this price it is a steel compared to anything else out there.

How Sad,

We bought one of these to replace a Kenwood 7qt mixer that was worked to death, on the assumption ( as stated in one of the reviews here) that the Hamilton Beach is a re-branded UK made Kenwood. Nope. The one we received is 'made in China'. Very obvious quality drop from the old one. The Hamilton struggles with a batch of slack ciabatta dough, much less anything stiffer. The hinge on the body is so loose/sloppy that the head assembly shakes from side to side when in use, making it impossible to properly adjust the beaters/hooks. How sad.We still have the 25+year old 5qt blue and white Kenwood, works great, but he does not see much use because of the smaller capacity. We do like the big red kill switch on the front of the new Hamilton, and the added handles on the bowl are nice. Since she prefers a tilt head planetary mixer over a drop bowl type like the 7qt Kitchen-aid or smaller Hobart types, I really don't know what to do other than looking for an unused counter queen Kenwood somewhere. Update on 1/02/2012: The mixer did not survive the 2011 Holiday Baking Frenzy. After mixing just two batches of moderately stiff bread dough, the thermal overload kicked in, the mixer shut off, and has not returned after more than a day. I assume that it is dead, and a warranty claim is in order. The Kenwood survived many Holiday Baking Frenzies.

I'm reviewing the Hamilton Beach CPM700 Commercial Stand Mixer, Silver. I had gotten this as a gift for my mom Dec 10th, 2009 and, It has work "wonderful" until Nov 19, 2010. My mom was using it to mix some cake mix, nothing too bad (2 boxes). When out of nowhere it started making some crazy rumbling noise inside it. Thank God It was still under the warranty and, Consumer care was good about taking it back, they ship off another one for no cost taking the old one back at no cost as well. All I had to provide was the invoice from Amazon and, complete serial & series # of the unit. I had just made it easy for them and sent a Pic of the Sticker on the bottom of the mixer. So, now I hope this new one holds up for my mom and She very pleased with the Hamilton Beach mixer and I think it was worth the money I put it to it. I want to say the Consumer I that reach threw email and, it took a little long getting back to me but, it just took a follow up email to get Consumer care back to talking with me again about the mixer. As for the Mixer it is easy to get the hang of and, it looks really good, I know I had to use it to do some mash potatoes and, it has a lot of power. I have only known of that one problem my mom had and, it had never had any other before that, I will keep a close eye on use of the mixer in the house. The mix it not in daily use but maybe ones a week or until about the holidays when she has to makes some pies. I haven't seen her use it to make dough or anything heavy Over all this mixer is nice, it looks good and, consumers care was really good to get a replacement. This one mixer is a little much for the prize tag but, the replacement mixer I got seems to be doing really good and, I'm very happy with it. |
