Pot drips when pouring,
This review is from: Hamilton Beach Stay or Goâ"¢ Deluxe Thermal Coffeemaker - Black
The pot consistently drips on the counter when pouring. Can't figure out how to stop it and can't stand it anymore.

I find the coffeepot leaks when it pours. Wish I had read the reviews before I bought it. I also cannot for the life of me get it to set to program. I do like the stainless steel carafe, and the 2 travel mug features but mostly am unsatisfied with the quality of the product.

For me, it's been a splendid little coffee maker,

I really don't understand the complaints about this unit. I haven't had any of the problems reported by others. In fact, I've found it to be one of the most convenient gadgets in my kitchen. As the only coffee drinker in the house, I don't usually make more than 1-2 cups in the morning, and the "microbrew" setting is perfect for this. Even such a small batch comes out tasting just as good as coffee that is brewed on a larger scale. It slows down the water flow so the limited amount of water has a chance to soak up the flavor of the grounds. The two "to go" cups included with the unit are wonderful, and fit nicely even into the pull-out beverage holder of my little compact car. They don't splash when you're trying to drink a beverage on the road, and they keep the coffee at a nicely drinkable temperature for quite awhile (my commute is ~25 minutes and the coffee is still hot when I get to work). What surprised me was the carafe itself. I have just made the transition from glass to steel carafes, and I was surprised how hot the coffee stays in it. The lid has a little release button you need to press to get the coffee to pour while the carafe is tilted, which is great if you are filling up multiple cups.
A couple of caveats, though: this isn't your typical coffee maker. The mug vs. carafe design is great for flexibility but it does have its limitations. Because you can stand either the travel mugs or the carafe under the coffee drip, there is no warming plate underneath (lest the mugs melt...) Also, the unit is designed so that one or two mugs can be filled at the same time. There are two spouts placed about 3 inches apart, and they are not pressure sensitive, so whatever you are brewing into, you need to either wait until the pot is finished brewing before you can remove the container. There are no volume markings on the carafe, but on the inside of the coffee maker is a very easy-to-see plastic insert that has both cup markings and one or two little travel-mug-shaped symbols, so if you're brewing travel mugs you know exactly how much water to put in. I wanted a coffee maker that could produce decent-tasting small batches of coffee, let me use my own grounds instead of those expensive prepackaged tubs, and give me the flexibility of making large amounts of coffee when I had company over. This little unit really delivers on all counts. I will say I had to play around a bit to figure out the right amount of coffee to use (2-3 T fresh grounds for each travel mug seems to fit the bill), but it did a great job once I figured out what strength I wanted. I highly recommend this coffee maker.

I read reviews about this coffeemaker and was rather disappointed. I was looking forward to ordering this particular coffeemaker for the options (mircrobrew, to-go mugs, iced coffee) and the thermal pot. I decided to order it, regardless of reviews, and I am glad that I did.
I have NO IDEA why people are complaining about the dripping. I TRIED to make my pot do that, like the video posted. The most "spill" I got out of the pot came from the hole where the coffeemaker drips the coffee into the pot, when I held the pot at an unnatural angle. So, I would assume that Hamilton Beach fixed that issue. My to-go mugs do have holes, but shaking them a bit takes care of any trapped water. The coffeemaker has huge numbers on the inside for measuring water. True, the pot does not have any that I have noticed, but filling the pot generally fills the maker up to the maximum 10-cup level. If I want a cup, immediately after waking, I set the program early enough to be finished by the time I will want a cup the night before. That way the pot is brewed and waiting for me when wake. There is not a pause and pour feature, so setting the program a little early works quite well to avoid having to wait on your first cup in the morning. The thermal pot itself is rather adequate for keeping coffee hot. I find it stays hot for about two hours. Within two hours the pot is usually empty in my house and new one is made. I don't like a pot of coffee to bake all day on a warmer plate because the coffee just tastes bitter and burnt, so the thermal pot suits my needs. I love this coffeemaker and found myself setting my alarm earlier on the weekends just to sit and enjoy a cup before I'm off to run errands. Sometimes it pays-off to ignore poor reviews; this was one of those times.

Was bought for my husband for Christmas, as he is the only one who drinks on a daily basis and leaves way early in the morning. We have had no problem with the way it brews into the cups or the pot. If you do brew into the cup keep in mind they are travel cups if you leave them for a while it will start to get cold. The pot does keep it warm for my husband for the weekends when he makes himself 2-3 cups. He love the programable feature, I love it to it is easy for me to set up even when he forgets some nights. I saw reviews that the cups leaked but would have to agree with another poster, the cups do not leak if you put them in the dishwasher or soak in the sink, if you look at the mugs they have two hole in the bottom water will get in them and cause the water to come on when drinking, I advise to either handwash or if you put in the dishwasher shake them real well and let set for an hour and we have had no problems. All in all I would recommend to anyone

I actually prefer the flavor of coffee I get from this machine over the Bunn coffeemaker we owned before.
However, the machine has several design flaws. The carafe leaks when you pour. But more annoyingly, the mugs fill up with water through the cracks between the aluminum and plastic, so you have to spend a minute or so shaking the water out before using or else the dishwater slowly seeps out while you're drinking. I figured I'd buy a newer version of the product (with the dual filter option) to see if they fixed the design. Their answer to fixing the mug issue was to drill two holes in the bottom of the mugs. Bad idea. Now the water from the dishwasher seeps in through the holes on the bottom of the mug. Bad design. Taking it back to the store.

Spils on poor, drips, eventually malfunctioned,

Had this maker for a few months and had the same complaints as seen on other web sites. Its nearly impossible to pour from the container without it spilling. The coffee maker continues to drip a lot of coffee when you remove the pot after brewing. I unplugged the maker to move it and the display started going crazy. It has not returned to an operation state after cycling power several more times. So why do I even rate it a 2? It has a stainless steel pot that doesn't break in your hands when washing. Also important, is that you can get your hands into it. So many makers today have a small hole.
