Hamilton Beach HDC200B 1cup Brewer w/50 included Coffee Pods

I used this item at Marriott hotels and loved it. So I bought one for myself and my son. It makes a wonderful cup of copy and it only takes 3 minutes. It is by far the best one cup coffee maker I have used.

I used one when staying at the Hyatt ...and was pleasantly surprised..tasted wonderful.. and I had no problem with the water spilling over. I tried going on to the Hamilton Beach website to purchase it, but to know avail...so I guess surfing the web DOES pay off !! I am getting ready to order now!

This machine makes a mess when brewing! I use a Bunn My Cafe at home and love it. I was looking for a smaller machine to use at work. The size is perfect but beware of coffee spilling out of the pod tray while brewing. It is hot and makes a mess. I am returning mine and looking for another brand.

Bought this a couple of months ago and really like it a lot. Used it with the coffee pods because it was easy. Ran out of pods late one night and tried using a small coffee filter and 2 teaspoon of regular coffee. I folded the filter paper edges over the coffee to form a small pocket. I was pleasantly surprised that it worked without any problems. Using regular filters give me more choices for great coffees and it is a lot cheaper than than buying pods at $5 a bag.

Very nice coffee maker. It is a little loud toward the end of the brewing, but since I use it at home, it doesn't bother me. It is fast and makes delicious coffee. Highly recommend it!

I purchased this item thinking that it would be perfect for me since I am single. The packaging was great and received in pretty quickly considering the Christmas mail etc. What I was disappointed was in the Senseo coffee that came with the coffee maker. I definately would not buy that coffee and looks like I may have to buy some kind of specialty filter for this coffee maker and make my own as it seems to be difficult to buy in the grocery store. I do use it for hot water for hot tea and also quick hot water for instant oatmeal in the morning. I did see that Starbucks makes coffee pods that would fit this coffee maker but it's "Espresso" and I am not fond of espresso. I guess I need to check here at Amazon and other places to see what I might find that would fit this maker. This coffee maker is small and easily fits in tight spaces.

I bought this so we could make a cup of coffee after dinner rather than make another entire pot. My husband and I like our coffee fairly strong. The first mug I made was like drinking lightly flavored water. I then made a second mug using only 1/2 mug of water. Coffee was still very weak. The HB brewer was very fast and I was excited to use it. Finally, I made a mug with 1/3 cup of water and 1 pod and it was good coffee. However, I see no point in making 1/3 cup of coffee and using one pod for it. Finally, as a last attempt, I tried using 2 pods for a mug and water spewed out all over the place. So, I learned not to use 2 pods at once. When I made a mug the next time, I used one pot and when it was through brewing, I took the pod out and put it in the coffee mug like I would a tea bag. After 3-4 minutes, it was strong enough to drink. I have now packed it up in the box for a future yard sale and bought a Keurig, which is absolutely fantastic.

Pro:
Only cost about $20.00

Cons:
Flimsy, cheap plastic construction
Mine had defective on/off switch that turned on at will. Had to keep it unplugged.
After doing two thorough cleanings, coffee still tasted like plastic.
Power cord way too short.
Water just dripped over the pod and made dishwater coffee.
Mugs taller than app. 5" won't fit under spout.

What a joke that Hamilton Beach labels this machine "Commercial". There's nothing commercial or heavy duty about it. I guess the old adage about getting what you pay for is true, at least in this case. If you want a solidly constructed coffeemaker that works well and seems like it will last a long time, pony up some more cash and go for a Senseo Supreme or a Bunn My Cafe. I've returned my Hamilton Beach and ordered a Bunn.

I bought this 1 cup brewer for a quick cup of coffee in the morning. It works fine but I have been using the senseo pods and have had to increase the strength of the pods, now I am using senseo dark roast. Of course I can only use one pod at a time or less water to get the strength of coffee I need. I will keep it though as it is just for my use.
