Set it up properly,

Here's how to set it up after you open the box -- extend the stand to its full length, loosen the allen bolt under the cup and push the collar and cup down to about 2 inches above the lowest place it can go, then tighten the allen bolt again. The pole needs to stick out about a foot above the cup so that the trombone doesn't wobble. Took me a second to figure it out... Hope that helps someone.

This stand is like a 1 ton pick up truck. It will do what ever you want it to do when set up properly. It is strong and solid. It will hold everything from a Alto to a Bass. I have seen trumpet players use them in a big band setting when they are standing, as a main stand or for a flugelhorn. When you put a horn on this stand, it does not move. The spring loaded stands will allow the horn to rotate and bang your slide into a leg. Not here.
The cons to this stand... It's heavier and not as easy to carry. Overall, best stand I've ever used.

A Hamilton is a Hamilton. I purchased this Hamilton because I lost my last Hamilton.

Bought for son for use with high school band trombone storage at home. Keeps trombone handy for frequent practice sessions. Does the job well. Sturdy item. No problem setting up. Prompt shipping.

If only they had told me!,

Great little stand for the money. However, not little enough! My son's trombone is not a full sized instrument, and the bell of the instrument would not sit deep over the top of the stand causing it to wobble precariously. Unfortunately, we had to return it.
