24-7 from business suit to diving suit.Over 30 hrs reserve, ETA swiss automatic, screw-down crown and back, convex saphire window, beautifully complicated day-date display, stunning untapered bracelet, a stupid bargain for anything less than $1,000. HAMILTON i s horology's unknown miracle, a la MIDO (a snob's silencer), but for an even nicer price. Have had this piece for six months, looks new after inclement daily use, stays precise at less than a minute (fast) a month, well within the swiss official-certification parameters for superlative chronometers.

I've wanted one of these for a while. It is well-made and keeps great time. I can't imagine getting an automatic movement watch for less money, or one that keeps time so well.

I received this watch as a gift a few days ago. I love the design and appearance of the watch. It's generally a 'diver' design, but isn't a submariner clone. It has it's own style. I love the complicated layout of the dial. The exhibition case back is a plus for me. It's the largest and heaviest watch I've ever owned, and it took a day or two to get used to that, but I've adjusted now.
I'm always amused by the reviews of mechanical automatic watches that complain they aren't very accurate. The point of one of these watches isn't accuracy. A $25 Timex quartz watch is much more accurate. The point is the amazing engineering and art of an automatic watch, and an appreciation of the precision workmanship required for the device. If that doesn't impress you, and you're goal is precision, get a battery operated quartz, or one of the seiko kinetics or citizen eco-drive quartz watch. There's some really nice choices there. But if you're interested in a horologically interesting automatic, Hamilton offers a very nice design here, and at a very competitive price.

Good watch but has a few "needs improvements",
This review is from: Hamilton Khaki King Scuba Black Dial Automatic Mens Watch H64515133 (Personal Computers)
This is a good watch. The good: great feel, heavy and impressive. The watch maintains excellent time and has over 24 hours of run-time when not worn. The "needs improvements": the luminescents are POOR. I cannot see the dial 10 minutes after going into a complete darkness environment. The date display is so small I need reading glasses to see it... I find the busy face difficult to detect the time at a glance.
Overall this is a handsome watch, rugged and sturdy. It has an excellent feel and maintains exellent time. If you purchase this model, make sure you have good eyes and also make sure the busy face suits your taste. I remain an advocate of the Traser H3 Automatic. Of the 15 or so timepieces I own, I resort to the Traser H3 Auto almost every day. The Hamilton King Scuba just isn't a watch I'd buy again or recomend for the reasons listed.

I first bought a japanese brand with all the bells and wistles, and powered by the sun. I decided what the heck, I could trade up and get a genuine swiss made watch that would probably last a lifetime. What a disapointment! Lets be realistic, Swiss automatics are obsolete, inaccurate and a pain to maintain. I have to wind it and reset the time once or twice a week. The screw down crown is ungainly, you have to get it just right to even screw it back down once you have wound it and reset it. The japanese watch (Citizen)had a 5 year warranty, and this one comes with only a 1 year warranty, that right there should tell you something. And its unreliable and very delicate, God forbid if you should drop it! Even Timex's are more durable. And if it needs repairs, make sure you got $[...] bucks set aside. Having said all that, I will allow that it is a very cool looking watch, heavy and gives the appearance of high quality. If you absolutely must have a Swiss Automatic, I suppose this one is as good as most, and its a Hamilton, which is a venerated American name brand (although a Swiss company now), and you would be getting it for half what I paid at a watch store in San Diego.
