One of the most innovative and interesting characters to make a place for himself in the 1960s British art scene, Hamish Fulton developed a personal art form based on walking. Through photographs and texts, colors and words, this artists's book represents the space and time covered by Fulton during a 43-day coast-to-coast walk. On the pavements, roads, and paths of Portugal, Spain, the Basque Region, the Pyrenees, and France, Fulton trod a trail that started at the mouth of the Douro river in Porto and ended at the delta of the river Ebro in Catalonia.

Born in London in 1946, Hamish Fulton has walked around the world. His work has been exhibited at various international venues, including the Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam; the Kunstmuseum, Basel; The Museum of Modern Art, New York; and the Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris.
