This review is from: The Hamlyn Book of Soft Furnishings: Essential Advice and Practical Projects for Decorating with Fabrics (Paperback)
I paid double the price (compared to that of Amazon) for this book and I still think it worths every penny! I have made a Roman blind recently and nobody believes that I did it!There are a variety of projects that you can do including making curtains, upholstery, bed and table linens, cushions as well as accessories like lampshade. The instructions are well illustrated and easy to understand and to follow, even for beginners like me. The book is full of pictures for inspirations. I find the information on different type of fabric and how to work out your color scheme is very useful. My favourite part is the chapter about basic sewing technique, how to use your sewing machine and how to fix the curtain pole. However, there is not much upholstery project(only include chair slip cover and loose cover for chairs) and there is no information of the suppliers. Nevertheless, I still highly recommend this book. |
