It is small and fast. Mine has a SAMSUNG Spinpoint M6 HM500LI 500GB 5400 RPM 8MB Cache 2.5" SATA 3.0Gb/s Notebook Hard Drive inside.

Not too long ago, hard drive space was $1.50 to $2.00 per gigabyte. Nowadays, the price has dropped to nearly $0.25 per gigabyte. I have used numerous hard drives on my Windows based machines for several years to include Western Digital, Sandisk Passport and Simple Tech. USB powered hard drives are a very convenient method of archiving data quickly without requiring an AC adapter.

The Hammer Morespace 500 GB hard drive is small, quiet and warm to the touch, despite my heavy use. Constructed of solid plastic with an indicator light to denote the hard drive being accessed, this brand is a solid competitor to the other brands of portable hard drives.

In addition, it comes with a skin that protects the hard drive from scratches from normal wear and tear. Skins can be customized and ordered for a more personal appeal. My particular drive was accompanied by a beach scene.

For the simple design and low cost, this hard drive is an excellent value.

I highly recommend this product.

Amazing that something this small can store that much data! Loved the fact that you don't need a power cord - it's just one more thing to lose...

This portable hard drive is perfect for storing files. It takes little space, is powered from USB, and looks very nice. And the price is very reasonable! It worked without any problem sinve I purchased it a month ago.

It has been one month, the 500 GB is working great since the beginning. No issues reported, comparable with well known reputed brands such as seagate and western digital external HDD. Very slick and handy. The thickness is almost like western digital hard drive. Fast and smooth transfer between my computer hard drive and this external HDD. No noise, and sense less heat like western digital brand. Good choice. I recommend this to users.

Purchased one of these less than two years ago to store my i-tunes music library. The unit seemed a little fragile out of the box - but performed without problems. The power supply appeared to have failed about a month ago. I sent two emails to Hammer Storage from their website support page, which boldly pronounces that a tech rep will respond within one (1) business day, asking them for info on getting a replacement power supply. That was three weeks ago and other than the auto-reply message indicating they received my message, I have had no response. Ever the optimist, I tried calling their 1-800 number during their posted hours three or four times. Each time the line would ring about 50 times and then disengage.

So if you buy this product, I sincerely hope you don't ever need any support.

I have been using this drive for over a month without issues. It is small lightweight and easy to transport. Just want I needed for storing pictures and music files.

I brought 2 of these in June when they were on sale.

Brought it to store & see video files on my Western Digital WD TV HD Media Player. I've been uploading/downloading non-stop for about a month & half with no problems.

I also have WD 500GB passport hard drive as well as Toshiba's 500GB. This hard drive works just as well and it's size is comparable to either of those drives. It might even be slightly thinner.

This HardDrive does what its supposed to and does it very well.
I did never heard about this brand before... but they are solid as a WD.
I did get it for a great price and it does really worth it.

I bought this drive to use with a WDTV Media Player. Unfortunately, it turned out that the WDTV was unable to even recognize this drive. Then I tried to use it with a MacMini and ended up with the same problem, the drive was not recognized. Hammer Customer Support told to to try it with a powered USB Hub (for extra power) and it did not help either.

I have ended up using it to backup an old Thinkpad X-22 (where it only works on one of the two USB ports). Even on that computer, it dismounts if left plugged in for several hours and has to be unplugged and replugged to work.

If power is the issue, as was suggested by Hammer Customer Support and some other reviewers, the drive should have included a power port and/or an adapter cable. This was my first purchase of a Hammer product and based on my experience I would not purchase this or other products.
