This review is from: With Hammer in Hand: The Dominy Craftsmen of East Hampton, New York (Hardcover)
There are many books about early American clockmaking but not about the tools the 18th century craftsmen used. This is a wonderful collection of information on a family business, their shops, and their tools. It provides information that I have searched for regarding those early tools that were available to buy in england but were mostly hand made in the American colonies. The fact that the family made both the clock movements and their cases was unusual. The book is very well written with wonderful illustrations. The combination of furniture and clock shops makes it a particularly valuable resource.
