Feel the spirit of the highlands!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Hammered (Audio CD)
The Wicked Tinkers represent the real spirit of the Highlands. It's not the music you hear from the pipe bands on the field. It's what you'd hear at the Caleigh afterwards. It's wild and it is [sensual]! You feel the drums in your body and hear the pipes in your soul. The addition of Wayne Belger on the didgeridoo adds a primal element that sets them apart and makes the music truly unique. Keep your eye on these boys, they're going to go all the way!

Drums and pipes to move you,

Literally! This is my all-time favourite CD to pop in and drive to! 'Radar Love' is a rollicking, drum filled sensation. And let's not forget the all time requested 'Amazing Grace/Scotland the Brave' combo! If you love pipes and drums, then Wicked Tinkers will fill your need. And if you ever get the chance to see them live, DO! Even better with new members.

Wicked Tinkers Rock!,
By Lisa Krause (Irvine, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Hammered (Audio CD)
I saw this band at the San Diego Highland Games in June and was hooked! I didn't even have an interest in bagpipe or Celtic music before that, but Wicked Tinkers convinced me to explore a whole new genre of music. I don't know of a higher compliment that can be paid a musician. If you like bagpipes, Celtic music, rock, punk, folk, or heck, just about anything else, you should check these guys out. I prefer this album to their first but they are both extremely well done. From the hilarious "The Farmer" to the thumping "Those Marching O'Neills," HAMMERED takes bagpipe music to a whole new level and expands its appeal. Give it a try; you won't be disappointed!

If you've never been to a highland games, or never experienced Celtic music and boundless energy, listen to the Wicker Tinkers FIRST! The music is incredible, the energy and showmanship is UNBELIVEABLE. If you get a chance to see these guys play live, stop everything and GO. We bought all three CD's and am hoping for more.My punk rocker son's comment - "Wow, I had no idea about this music. These guys are awesome." On a scale of 1-10, a 20 at least.

Great CD with fantastic pipes by Aaron. And if you ever have a chance to see them in concert, do not hesitate. It'll make your weekend.

Blows your hair back bagpiping,
This review is from: Hammered (Audio CD)
Aaron, John & Warren really cook! Their energy with the unique arrangements are a joy to the ears. If you have a chance, go see them at one of the many Highland Games Events they play at. This CD has enough variety to keep you interested and enough electricity to make you want to toss a caber - or at least do a reel or two.

This album is Wicked!,
By Maggie Paul (Long Beach, CA) - See all my reviews

This second album from the Wicked Tinkers is awesome. It will start your feet a-tapping. It is all Wicked Tinkers - fun, loud, upbeat - a party of music. Scots and non-Scots will enjoy it. The album has a variety - from lively jigs to slow love songs. "Aaron & Leza" is a beautiful song and a wonderful tribute to the couple. "Those Marching O'Neills" is a real stompin' song. And, of course, "The Farmer" is a funny favorite. This album has something for everyone - it is a great buy! P.S., wait after the end of the last song for a bit of fun.

Ahhh ... The Skirl of the Pipes!,

It was my very great pleasure to attend two Wicked Tinker shows at the Monterey CA Highland Games this past year. I bought their first CD while there and have just about wore it out. I attended the annual Pozo CA Whiskey Games this past April and was gratified to find the Tinkers at their wondrous craft there as well. I got "Hammered" in more ways than one that day. Their music is as old as the hills and as fresh as Spring. Long live their unique sound, give me more!

Fun and energetic...,

The music on this CD is fun and energetic, but overall, the CD isn't quite as good as their first one. If you like the pipes and drums you'll probably enjoy this one. Not recommended for devoted traditionalists, though.

Superb Piping and Drumming,

Aaron Shaw is possibly one of the finest pipers out there right now. Listen carefully to his rendition of "Crossing the Minch" on Radar Love....by the end he is playing nothing but grace notes! Spectacular piping! Not only is he techically brilliant, but obviously has great fun with his piping. John MacAdam's and Warren Casey's drumming rounds out a really fine album. Great Scottish music that is not wholly traditional, but incredibly fun. Perfect music for folks who like their music "Certified 100% Loud"
