DOES NOT FIT Standard 3/8 Dovetail Scope Base,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Hammers Scope Rail Adapters for Crossbows Airguns 3/8" Dovetail to Weaver (Misc.)
I decided on this adapter set over another highly rated but much more expensive set from B-square. In pictures, they appeared to be identical. Before ordering I made sure (caliper measurement) that the guns on which this would be used had a 3/8" (9.5mm) dovetail and not the slightly larger 11mm dovetail, which is also common. Previous reviewers had pointed out that they were too tight to fit their dovetail mounts but I suspected the problem might be that they had the 11mm type. Wrong! These units were far to small - not even close to 3/8. The semi-rigid design works only if the adapter fits almost exactly, requiring only a little torque to clamp securely to the base. The design is too rigid to pry the clamping jaws wide enough to fit.In order to make these work, I used a Dremel tool with cutting/grinding wheel to gradually widen the grooves on both sides until they just fit over my dovetail mount. With this modification they do work ok. Next time I will consider ordering the "UTG 11mm to Weaver Adapter, Adjustable" which also fits the 3/8 dovetail, and though is a little taller than I would like, is actually less expensive and highly rated.

Poorly Designed,

At first I liked the low profile of this adapter, but, had to spread it open to fit and broke a screw trying to get it tight. Tossed it in the trash and going to go with a 2 piece rail adapter although the profile will be slightly higher. I would not recommend buying this type of adapters, looks good but far from being.

Would not fit the 3/8" dovetail until the adapter was spread open a little with a screwdriver. Better yet, one of the screws stripped out before the adapter tightened down on the dovetail. Wasted money.

I purchased this for a paintball marker (Autcocker) and for a pellet rifle (Crossman) - it does not fit on either. You cannot bend it a bit to make it fit, I tried. I have no idea what actually has 3/8" dovetail, there is no standardized measurement for these things (dovetails) so I don't know what that measures - just be assured it probably won't fit what you have. There is not something much more command than a Crossman pellet rifle and an Autococker (both which have the same size dovetail if that tells you anything).

I orderd this adapter for an old Sears 22 rifle with 3/8 (0.375") the addaper would not tighten to the Dove Tail so I measured it wit my caliers and point to point was 0.4" or 0.025" too wide. I stil do not have an adapter for my scope. I returned the 2 I bought.

I ordered these in hopes that I could use one on the dovetail groove on my Marlin Model 99 so that I could mount a red dot I already had with a built in Weaver mount. It slide on with no problem and locked down tight with a few turns of the allen key. The micro red dot fit on it as well with no issues and the whole thing is nice and tight. I haven't sighted it in yet, but I doubt it's going to budge with shooting 22's.

I originally gave this a bad review, but I bought them to mount a bipod to my airforce talon ss and didnt realize these where meant for just scope rings. If used for that they should work fine without having to modify them. I still thing you have to tighten them down too hard to get them to hold, but that could be just on my rifle. If you want these to mount other accessories like I did you will probable have to grind off the allen head a little one installed because it pokes out a little into the weaver/picatinny rail preventing slide on attachments. One the heads are cut down it works great. I dont plan on ever taking it off so no biggie. |
