I bought the fishing stick for a friend just before a fishing trip to the fast-flowing Devils River in South Texas and had it shipped via expedited UPS. It arrived in time for the trip. My friend was very happy with the sturdiness and overall quality of the fishing stick. Nice job Hammers!

I have been guiding in utah wyoming and colorado for two decades. A lot of my clients have these. They can come apart at the worst times and are useless as a reach stick. Some of the staffs even get stuck together after leaning on them and it takes a shop vise to get them apart. If you fish fast water buy a simms staff, they are pricy but they dont come apart. It just might save your life.

The very first time I used this 'Hammers' brand wading staff in a nice trout stream where there was only moderate stress on the staff, the elastic cord broke loose inside the stick and it fell apart. Don't waste your money as I did.

The shaft is aluminum and snapped at a coupling the first time I leaned on it. Pay a little more and get better quality materials.

Comes apart when in use. Elastic not strong enough to keep it together. Dangerous. No stars. This product should not be sold

It falls apart when you are using it. The elastic is weak so it won't hold the staff together. Don't waste your money!

I ordered this item at the end of the last fishing season. I thought a wading staff would come in handy for next season.
I recently returned from a fishing trip on the Connecticut river in Pittsburgh NH . This was the fist time i had used the staff. The river raw running fast and hard. So i needed a wading staff. It at first seemed to be a good staff and I was happy with it ready to write a 5 star review. I slipped getting out of the river and the staff folded in half and broke. I was thankful it was at the edge of the river and not in the middle. I could have been in serious trouble. I will buy a simms wading staff and invest in quality. Saving money might not save your life.

I am new to this and wanted support without the high cost. I just spent two weeks on the beautiful Gallatin and Madision Rivers. I used it all the time, it gave great support and comfort in all types of terrian and water as well as getting in and out of some tricky banks. It did get stuck in the mud some times and I learned, as others have mentioned, to twist it and it will come right out. After the first day I did not use the pouch, I set it up and used it as a treking pole through all the varied and diverse terrian we went through to get to our fishing spots. Just clip the adjustable lanyard to a good spot and its always there when you need it. It handled my weight well and the only time I took a bath was when a friend caught a nice trout and I got excited and went to help him with his Go-Pro without using my Waiding Staff and I went down face first... lession learned !!! I would like to know how to replace the elastic cord which will wear out at some point but I could buy a new one every few years and still have a load of cash to buy flys and stuff with.
