Solid Story,
By Andy P. (Toledo, Ohio) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Hammerstrike (Hardcover)
Hammerstrike is an excellent novel. It moves fast and isn't overly descriptive such as some novels that I have read. The writing is also very clever, as the two separate plots intertwine at the end of the novel. The way that Walter Winward writes really keeps your mind moving right along with the story. As I had to read this for school, I wasn't looking ahead to see when the chapters ended. I actually enjoyed reading this book. I would recommend this story to anyone who enjoys reading books with a slight hint of history in them and who enjoys adventures. It starts off when a German general gets shot down behind enemy lines. He has important information that is incredibly confidential and imperative to the German war machine that it does not fall into enemy hands. This sparks a recon mission to rescue the general before the enemy knows who it is and what he knows. Also, there is a second plot going on at the same time. It tells about a German POW camp and the troops inside plotting an escape. I won't go into any detail to spoil the end, but it is truly incredible. It has an ending to die for. Simply put: read this book.
